"I am very happy with my new bath to shower conversion. Tylor and the professionals of Front Range Bath guided me through the process, installed high quality materials, made very helpful suggestions when faced with minor issues, and were very efficient letting me know when they would arrive and how long the process would take. They were very careful in their measurements and in protecting the surrounding walls and fixtures and listened to my thoughts and suggestions. They cleaned everything up each night and at the end of the project. I highly recommend them."

"Dylan P and T.J. did an amazing job. Dylan explained exactly what they were going to do in removing old tile and bathtub and removing and replacing any damaged wood. The project took all day and they didn't take any breaks. Both of them were considering and professional. I would definitely recommend West Shore Home. I love my new shower!"

"Calling Jimmy at AKA Tile & Stone a "tile installer" doesn't do him justice... he is a tile ARTIST! We were so blown away about halfway through this main shower renovation, we added a second bathroom renovation to the mix while he was mobilized. I'm an architect and my wife is an interior designer, and we had some initial design ideas. Jimmy was more than patient with us making our final selections, and helped out a lot with design details that we hadn't considered. He was never pushy or trying to upsell us on anything (in fact he suggested a few cheaper components that ended up saving money in the end). The final result is an absolutely gorgeous shower with amazing attention to detail, perfect fit and finish of all the tile, trim pieces, custom niches, and bench. This was also a custom poured pan, and after 2 months of use, everything is flawless, drains properly, etc. We couldn't be happier, and look forward to working with AKA again and again!"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can remove a bathtub yourself if you have previous DIY experience and basic plumbing knowledge. You should have at least one other person help you if you approach this project as a DIY. However, hiring a plumber or bathroom remodeling pro can prevent accidental damage from demolition or water leakage.

An alcove tub is designed to fit into a three-walled enclosure in a bathroom. A drop-in tub, on the other hand, is placed into a custom-built frame or enclosure. This frame can be fitted to an alcove, making a drop-in tub a viable alternative if you want a more custom or spa-like look. Because the frame is custom, drop-in tubs offer more design flexibility and a wider range of materials, such as cultured marble or tile, compared to the simpler acrylic or fiberglass of a typical alcove tub. The frame for a drop-in tub can also be placed anywhere in the bathroom it fits, not just in an alcove.

What you include in your bathroom remodel will depend on your budget, personal preferences, and the current condition of your bathroom. Bathroom renovations often involve changing out the shower or tub, faucet, showerhead, tiles, flooring, mirrors, sink, cabinets, and vanities. You may also want to upgrade the wallcovering, adding new wallpaper or paint.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

A good soaking tub will allow you to completely submerge yourself in the water, so it needs to be at least 20 inches deep. Luxury soaking tubs are 24 inches deep so that you can easily have enough space to be submerged in the water once the tub is full.
