"Chris is a hands on owner of his company. I own a home with zero visible cracks when Chris and his partner were finished. My HOA requires proper paint codes and Chris brought me a perfect match. One year later I called Chris to paint to match my new garage door. He arrived to house within 48 hours. For fast, efficient and quality work give Chris a call."

"Ken is a very conscientious, dependable and excellent painter. He stained the exterior of our log home in the Black Forest, and did a great job. He wants to please in all details of his work, and he strove to make certain that I was happy with all aspects of the job. He is a very polite and pleasant person as well. Will be calling on him again in the future."

"FIVE STARS! We had a custom stone fireplace project that turned out amazing. We ended up doing a stain and faux finish and the stone looks completely natural like it was here all along. We are thrilled with the results. I highly recommend this company as they are reliable, responsive, and provide quality finishes."

"JB Masters was recommended to me by my friend. He provided me the phone number and I contacted Bob with JB Masters for a quote. He was able to come out the same day and provide me with the quotation.  The quote was right on the money, I called him later and asked when he could come back to do the work. He said he could do it as soon as the following day, unfortunately that did not work with my schedule. We agreed on the day after that, between 8:30-9:00 am, he and his crew arrived at 8:30 am and promptly began tearing the old gutters off of the house.  I watched as the work was being done, and I did not see one of them stand in one place for more than 30 seconds, before I knew it the new gutters were on and they were asking me if there was a particular way I wanted the down spouts so turn out near the ground.  The job was nearing completion and Bob had some extra gutter material left over and made a piece for a part of the roof that did not previously have a gutter but needed one. He did not charge me for this piece and its installation. The house was done and they cleaned up the yard and decks of debris that was in the old gutters. He made sure that all nails and hardware were picked up and disposed of.  They cut up the old gutters and placed neatly on the corner of the yard to be picked up by his disposal crew.  They started at 8:30 and were done by 10:45 and the downspouts and gutters straight and level and looked just awesome.  I highly recommend JB Masters to anyone who needs gutters installed and wants it to be done right.

"Joe came out to do a bid on pressure washing, staining and painting our home outside of Woodland Park. He gave us an honest and fair bid using Messmer’s Exterior oil based stain. David and his crew came up 2 weeks later and did an amazing job of pressure washing the house and repairing holes/cracks on siding & trim boards. A few days later they were back masking the windows and started staining. Total of 3 days to do staining and painting trim and garage door. They cleaned up all masking materials and our home looks amazing!"

"

This is for a rental property so, some urgency was needed. It took three weeks and a threat to get another company ASAP got his crew to come out to the property. I also had some flooring done at the same time so, a good time for them to come out. Additional, drywall repair was needed after the washer/dryer was moved out of the way. I offered to pay the additional $100.

The quality of the work on the nail holes/drywall was good. Some texturing was applied to one wall that didn't even match the room. The clean-up after themselves was the worst I've seen and told to the company which didn't charge the $100 which was appreciated. The flooring guys took care of their mess and didn't understand the texturing as well on the one wall.

I go thru Angie's list to basically interview the talent on different projects . These guys wanted to paint the rest of the townhome but they failed the interview.  ,

"The new roof process started when I noticed an area of my ceiling looked stained. Within two weeks it had gotten worse and started to drip on the carpet. I had seen information for Peachtree Restorations and gave them a call. Nick Van Slyke came by that same week and checked my roof. It turns out I had wind and hail damage that I wasn't aware of. Nick walked my roof and reported that several of my shingles had pulled loose and many more were damaged. Nick helped me with everything, and I mean everything. He worked with my insurance carrier and their insurance adjuster, developed an extremely detailed estimate for the replacement, and stayed on top of the process right through installation. Peachtree Restorations provided me a roof that meets Georgia building codes and included synthetic roof underlayment, ice and water barrier in the valleys, metal drip edge, starter shingles, lead pipe stack covers (which they painted to match the roof color), ridge cap venting and ridge shingles. They did an excellent job of clean-up from the old roof removal with magnetic rollers. Since they used GAF products, GAF provided a lifetime warranty that includes the materials and labor of installation. This warranty can be transferred one time if the home is sold. I recommend Peachtree Restorations, and Nick Van Slyke without reservation. They are the best."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. To reduce the fire risk, throw them in a metal container after use and add rocks on top to secure them. Add an inch of water and seal the container. Take the rags in the container to a hazardous waste factory as soon as possible.

For the longest-lasting exterior paint, consider acrylic or enamel (oil-based) paints. Acrylic paints, including acrylic latex and acrylic enamel, are known for withstanding harsh weather and sun exposure. Enamel-based paints are also one of the most durable options available. While latex paint is common, it typically has a shorter lifespan than acrylic or oil-based options. The paint's finish also affects its durability; a higher gloss finish is generally more durable. For resistance to moisture and cracking, matte and satin finishes can be effective, while a high-gloss acrylic or oil-based paint offers a combination of maximum longevity and durability.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.
