"Premier Lawn and Snow, which is actually Andrew's Lawn and Snow, was very responsive and did exactly what we agreed to, which was weekly (every 7-10 days) lawn care until October. The first time they came was this week while I was at work. I received an email notice, as well as before and after pictures and when I got home I was very pleased with the work. They missed one swath of lawn, which wasn't surprising the way our property abuts with the neighbor's (used to be all one plat) and they made a judgment call based on a fence, which was reasonable. I called the customer service number, which was promptly answered and he made a note for the next time they came out. Also want to mention that we received a written contract (emailed). At this point I would highly recommend!"

"Itâ s great service. Iâ m retired so I canâ t do this work myself anymore. They cleaned all the snow after the city snow plow left a mound of snow in front of my driveway in the evening. I got on their later route and they showed up a few hours after I got 2 inches of snow on my driveway the first time, they showed up at slightly different times after the fact with later services but always after the plow which is what I wanted. They also laid down some salt too which was great, I paid once upfront before the season started. I wasnâ t sure about it, but Iâ m loving it so far. Iâ m gonna try to get some of my neighbors hooked up soon."

"Once we got through all the weather problems they came and got the work done. We purchased it early but we had to wait a while. Our roof was still snow covered. We were in touch frequently to find a good scheduling point. So they came out 2 months ago. I wasn't charged anything extra. They were very favorable and I think the owner and one employee came and they were both really nice guys. I would say they did what they said they were going to do and they provided me with quality information and pictures before and after the service."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Yes—in fact, it’s an important step in how to start a snow blower. Allowing the engine to idle for a few minutes prior to using a snow blower helps it reach its optimal operating temperature, which gets the fuel running properly, improves its performance, and helps prevent stalling during frigid weather.

Some commercial services use sand when clearing ice, but that’s to add instant traction, not to melt the ice. While you can scatter kitty litter, sand, or similar substances on steps, paths, or porches to improve safety during icy conditions, they won’t help melt hardened ice. Rely on salt or other de-icing methods to fully melt away stubborn ice.

Whether or not an annual snow removal contract is worth it depends mainly on location. If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall, a yearly contract could be better than paying per clearing. If you live in an area where it only snows a few times a year, paying per snowstorm may be a better option.

When it comes to deciding whether a two-stage or three-stage snow blower is better, you must consider the amount of snowfall you get, the size of the area, and your budget.

A three-stage snow blower is more efficient at clearing higher volumes of snow quicker and removing ice build-up. It’s ideal for commercial use and removing snow from large areas. Make sure to compare various types of snow removal equipment to ensure you purchase the one that is best for your needs.

The easiest way to remove snow from a roof involves using a roof rake that allows you to clear snow from the ground. Roof rakes are lightweight and feature adjustable handles, making them user-friendly for most people. This method also helps prevent ice dams and excess snow buildup, reducing the risk of roof damage during winter months.

When should you remove snow from your roof? A good rule of thumb is once six inches of snow accumulates.
