"After asking friends and neighbors for recommendations, we called several roofing companies to see if we could come to their offices look at samples and discuss options.  Los Gatos Roofing was the only company that welcomed such a visit.  We met with Randy Brown, who we learned later learned is one of the owners.  After 1 1/2 hours filled with information, we scheduled an appointment for an estimate.  Randy was our project manager, and was prompt, courteous, and offered a variety of suggestions.  Our estimate arrived the following day by e-mail, with lists of where to find examples of roofs of the different types we were considering.  At our request, Randy made color and style recommendations, steering us away from some high-priced options.  We accepted all of his recommendations, and made the required down-payment, which included an Angie's List coupon!
We had to wait a few weeks for the job to start, due to the crews being busy.  Randy called a few days in advance to confirm that they were going to start on the appointed day, and reminded us of all of the preparations that would be necessary on our part.  A list of things to do in advance, including notifying the neighbors, had been sent to us.
The tear-off crew arrived early on a Monday morning, but waited until 8:00 AM before knocking on the door.  The old roof was gone (including being hauled away) by 1:00 PM, and the roofing crew started promptly.  The roof was done in the 2 1/2 days promised.  Randy checked in on a daily basis, to ensure we were satisfied and that the job was going according to requirements.  We had a few special situations, which were handled well.  Unfortunately, the gutter forming machine broke, so the gutters could not be finished until a couple of days after the roof was done. 
The crews and crew leads were all very polite, kept us informed of what was happening, answered our questions, and ensured the job site was cleaned up at the end of every day.  They even had a special magnet to pick up any nails that were left on the ground or in the landscaping around the house!
Randy informed us of the building inspection date, came by to be with the inspector, and quickly corrected one small issue the inspector found.  Not until the inspection was signed off were we presented with our bill.
When the job was finished, we received a feedback questionnaire, and a follow-up thank you note from Los Gatos roofing. 
The finished roof and gutters look great, and the process was made as painless as possible by Randy and the crews.  We would highly recommend Los Gatos Roofing to anyone.
