"Our house burned down in the Altadena Fire, but the garage didn't and all that was left was 20 years of everything we bought that wouldn’t fit in the house, and extra books, childhood objects, grad school and career papers. We initially hired a company to clean everything of its ash and other fire related chemicals, making sure to break it down into three groupings that we had labeled for them. They moved it for us to a storage unit. The storage unit was packed with all of it, including unmarked boxes of cleaned items. My plan was to do a bit at time until we found a place with a garage to move to. I did squat. My wife suggested hiring a real professional this time. I went on line, found a few suggestions, interviewed two and lucky for us, we picked Julia. She told us her system for staging and saying goodbye to things we didn’t need.
