"G. Brooke Construction was great! They worked very hard to complete this project and I am very pleased with the end result. Jamie is easy to work with and a great communicator. He’s very innovative in his approach and used common sense solutions to unforeseen problems that didn’t bust my budget. I have a lot of respect for him and his team and look forward to working with them again on my next project."

"Mike and helper nice people but work was not professional and had I not been there the cabinet hardware would have been installed incorrectly. Mike did not communicate well with helper so mistakes were made until Mike would do the task himself. They did not like me present while they were working but after the first mistakes I didn’t feel comfortable leaving. I didn’t have them finish the cabinets because they were complaining about having to do cabinets and how difficult it is on older ones."

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

Seeing a termite swarm near your home is a strong indication that a colony is nearby, but it doesn’t always mean your home is infested. Swarmers may emerge from outdoor colonies or neighboring structures. However, if the swarm is inside your home or you notice discarded wings near windowsills, it likely means termites are nesting within your walls or foundation. A professional inspection is the best way to confirm and address a potential infestation ASAP.

Probably not. Many imitation nests are meant to be hung from trees or other tall places, but not all yellow jackets nest up high—most species, such as the common yellow jacket and the southern yellow jacket, build nests in the ground.

No, mulch itself does not necessarily attract termites even though it’s usually made of shredded wood. Some types of mulch like cedar or cypress resist termites because they’re toxic or unappetizing to the wood munchers. However, when the mulch is deep enough, say three inches or more, it creates a perfect habitat for insects of all kinds to build nests.

It’s normal to spot the occasional ant roaming your house, but if you’ve applied DIY treatments that don’t eradicate the problem, you should consider hiring a professional ant removal service. You should also be concerned about an ant infestation when these pests cause structural damage to your home by tunneling into wood features.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.
