"Got everything cleaned out as expected along with some unexpected items in the flue (rocks, dead birds). Protected the inside with tarps and vacuumed everything up. Recommended and I had a chimney cap installed. Everything was done quickly, efficiently and within budget."
Black stains shows evidence of hazardous cracks in firebox. Top 6” and lintel bar removed from fireplace. Not ever a good idea. Potentially making fireplace unsafe to use.

"Jesus was terrific. On time, polite and professional. He cleaned one chimney quickly and inspected another. While I would have cleaned the other chimney had he told me to do so, Jesus informed me it was unnecessary at this time. This saved me another $140.
Great job and I will certainly use them again!
Thanks.

"We hired Fireplace Freddie to inspect and fix our 100-year-old fireplace & chimney, making it safe to burn real wood again. Nick and Scott came out quickly, and used cameras to inspect. During the inspection Nick visually showed me what the issues were. He also verbally suggested the fix. After the inspection, we received pics and a price quote to fix the issues by installing a stainless steel sleeve in the chimney. We sent the pics and info to 3 other businesses to compare prices. After speaking with Nick numerous times, including 2 conversations with my old school contractor buddy who asked Nick just about every ridiculous question he could possibly think of, Nick remained cool and answered all of his questions. Nick also agreed to do the job with a permit from LADBS which they included in the price, so we decided Fireplace Freddie was the right company to do the job. Patrick was our installer. He had a co-worker, but I didn't catch his name. They showed up on time, covered the floor and furniture and did their job. It took a few days as they said it would, but they were on time, clean and friendly. Each day they came, they covered everything. Each night, they cleaned up and uncovered everything before they left. Patrick also dealt with our LADBS inspector who admittedly was not well versed in chimney repair. Patrick was very friendly, gave the inspector the information he needed including printed specs from the manufacturer, and we passed inspection w/o issue. Scott came back 1 week later to test the fireplace. He lit a fire to make sure it was all good, and it is. To sum it all up, everyone was friendly and professional. The job went super smooth, and we are able to use our wood burning fireplace again, safely.  I would highly recommend Fireplace Freddie. A+"

"After calling companies close to our mountain location we contacted Hugo at A-1 and he offered to come a much longer distance at a lower price. He overcame some obstacles the way our fireplace was built to get the chimney clean and also replaced the worn out chimney cap. He was on time and very careful to control the soot coming into the home. We recommend this company as professional and fairly priced. And working with Hugo was an especially pleasant experience.

"After purchasing an Angie’s List Coupon for a tile roof tune-up, I contacted Atkins Roofing and Danny, the owner, came out the same day to introduce himself and explain the work that was covered by the coupon.  He and his assistant, Raf, began the work 2 days later.  After they inspected my roof, Danny explained what he was going to cover via the coupon, as well as giving me an estimate to repair a perennial leak that I have had around my chimney for the last 20 years.  Danny used a cell phone camera to show me all the areas that needed to be repaired; nice touch.  I should mention that I have had 4 to 5 other roofers over the past 20 years come out to fix the chimney leak.  I was always told the leak was fixed, but when the next heavy rains came the leak continued to manifest itself.  Danny & Raf spent the next 3 days repairing my roof and the supposed “fixes” from the last 20 years.  They spent more time working on my roof than all the other roofers did, collectively!  I have every confidence that my chimney/roof leak is now finally fixed and look forward to this year’s rainy season to test out the repair.  Thank you Danny & Raf for a job well done."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is best and safest for venting a hood range. It’s best to avoid flexible and corrugated types of ducting, as these options don’t provide ample airflow and may not meet local code. For specific advice on which type of duct might be best for your kitchen, reach out to a range hood installation professional.

By positioning ductwork for optimal airflow and reducing potential leaks.

Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.

Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.
