"I highly recommend Tubman Stone Masonry for adherence to a high standard of quality and excellent craftsmanship in their work. They were prompt, reliable , and very detail oriented. They cleaned up at the cmpletion of each workday and maintained a neat and tidy environment. Sunny and his crew were always polite and simply outstanding. I will use them again and recommend them to neighbors, family, and friends. I am very pleased with the outcome of my front yard project."

"This is a highly exceptionally quality company. My second job - continuing from original, around side yard into back yard. All work was performed to excellent perfection. I was given a start date, workers were on time, started and completed in timeline and excellent craftsmanship was performed. All questions were talked out and nothing was left hanging. Job site was left clean and no need for a return trip to fix a problem. 4 years between jobs and you couldn’t tell were work was finished and started. Method Paving will always be my go to contractor. Rick the owner is a stand up man who made sure work performed was to the expected quality!"

Customers say: True professional

"A friend recommended Natural Vibrations for our backyard patio and landscape renovation. She said Kris and Aaron did a great job, gave her money-saving ideas, finished the job on time, and were great to work with. She was right on all counts. Kris and Aaron, with Tony's help, did an outstanding job with the demolition of the existing concrete patio, preparing the site for new pavers, and laying porcelain pavers. Aaron is a perfectionist, and everything was perfect, including edges, corners, and slope. The landscaping refresh and new sprinkler layout was also great. They had great suggestions, listened to our input, and were easy to work with. We love our new backyard, and will definitely call them again for future projects."

Small jobs welcome

"We spent 3 months trying to find the right contractor to tear down and rebuild our deck. We hire Brian ONeill after receiving a bid and discussing the project with him. He listened to what we wanted and worked with us to come up with the correct deck configuration that we wanted. He is a true craftsman and exceptionally easy to work with. We couldn't be happened with the finished product and that he did everything he said he would do and was a complete pro before, during, and after. Thank you Brian!"

"Landscape Solutions did a great job and I would have them back again if I ever need additional work. They installed concrete and drainage in our backyard and walkway. This was a pretty extensive project that was done well. Not only are Scott and Norka (management) personable and honest, their workers are very pleasant and are happy to answer questions."

"Wow! Best contractor experience ever! My project was complicated, and I'm so thankful that I selected NC Marble and Stone Pavers. We replaced 3200 square feet of concrete with pavers around our pool. There was re-grading, new steps, and a heavy jacuzzi that needed to be moved. To make matters worse we were remodeling the swimming pool at the same time with a different contractor, so there were scheduling challenges. I was working from home so I was always going out to check on things, point out minor corrections, and ask their english-speaking crew member lots of naive questions. I made mid-project changes and special requests. Some things were damaged during demolition and I asked for them to be fixed. None of this was any problem for Alex, the owner of NC Pavers, or Eric, his sales manager, and their hard-working crew. They aim to please their customer and were happy to oblige every request I made, even AFTER the final project was done and paid for. Furthermore, Alex and Eric were easy to reach. They answered their phones and texts every time I called. And even though it was a 50-mile drive for Alex, he made a site visit on most of the job days to make sure things were going smoothly. At one point in the project there was a major complication because the pool contractor mounted his coping at the wrong height so it didn't match the paver steps. When the pool guy refused to own his mistake, Alex made things right by offering to fix the pool coping at cost. I would say that NC Marble and Stone pavers is a top notch company in both quality and customer service. And their price was the most competitive as well! "This Contractor is Licensed by the Contractors State License Board is in Good Standing. The Owner Tony and His Staff of Henry and Isidro all worked hard to replace the crown on my masonry chimney. Instead of just replacing the crown with mortar again they used steel and cement to install a larger and more solid crown. They also did additional work on the chimney to make it safer. They protected my gutters from damage while using their ladders along with tarps to protect my roof and the ground around the chimney. They also used a tarp where they were mixing the cement and took any dirty water with them instead of pouring on the ground. As a Retired Combination Building and Fire Inspector I can honestly said their an Excellent Company to use."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Cobblestone can be made from many different types of stones but the most common ones, by far, are granite, basalt, limestone, and sandstone.  If you are laying a brick paver patio or other such project, the medium is different. It’s rare, but cobblestone can also be made from marble, slate, jasper, and other types of rock. Technically, you can make cobblestone from almost any type of rock, but if it is weather-resistant and stands the test of time is another question entirely.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) recommends placing a mailbox 6 inches to 8 inches back from the curb. If your lot is unusual, speak with town authorities or the local post office to determine the correct placement.

While painting can certainly change the look of a chimney, you should think twice about giving your brick chimney the old landlord special.

Painting brick is porous, meaning it’s full of tiny holes that can soak up moisture. Those holes also allow it to dry, though. So, when you paint it, you trap any moisture inside, providing an opportunity for mold, mildew, and water damage.

Paint also shows wear faster than naked brick. This means that once you paint a brick surface, you’ll have to keep painting it to maintain a clean look. A paint job is also harder to undo on brick because of its porous nature. Once you paint it, it’s hard to go back without some serious power washing—another added cost.

You may not need a hammer drill if you’re planning on drilling one or two very small diameter holes in brick. For holes with a diameter of 3/16-inch or less, a regular drill with a masonry bit can do the job. However, the bit will heat up quickly, and the process will take significantly longer than with a hammer drill. Prepare to cool your drill bit down in a bucket of water more often.

Brick can increase the value of your home depending on the type of masonry materials used. Homes generally have a higher resale value when they have brick siding, and brick is also easier to maintain (and lasts longer) than other types of siding, which can motivate buyers to make an offer.

Just keep in mind, however, that although brick can up the asking price when you sell your house, the cost to brick a house is also more expensive than other typical siding costs—so you’ll invest more in the project.
