"Our sliding glass door became a beast! It was so hard to slide, we avoided using it. I called around to the other vendors on Angie's List, as well as those on the internet. Affordable Sliding Door gave the best price (& then took $10 off of that price, honoring their Angie's List coupon.) They were available the next day but we weren't able to work that into our schedule. So, they came early the next week, on time, as scheduled. Our door now works perfectly & we were so satisfied, that I just called them back to schedule an appointment for our son's home -- who has been suffering a long time with his beastly sliding door. DON'T SUFFER WITH A DEFECTIVE SLIDING GLASS DOOR! The $165 price makes this repair a must!

"They did a great job. We were really impressed with how responsive they were - they came and gave us an estimate while the shower was still being built and installed the glass as soon as it was possible to do so - so there was no delay at all. Very happy with the end result."

"Chris is a hard worker who does quality work. He worked through the Holiday weekend. He replaced all the windows the first day and came back the next day to finish all the trim work. They were vinyl replacements for old aluminum windows. This is the second time we hired him. He replaced two large sliding glass doors for us 5 years ago, so not only would I hire him again but I did hire him again. We received 2 other quotes and Chris came in the lowest by far. He's basically a one man show which I think allows him to keep his overhead low and the savings is passed on to the customer. He uses Milgard windows and they look and work great. We looked at other products and the Milgard looked to be as good as any other. No regrets."

"Foothill Painting painted my kitchen and family room and did an excellent job.  I had pulled off the old wallpaper and the wall surfaces were very rough and in bad shape.  At the completion of the job, the walls looked brand new.  They also painted the ceiling where the location of the old cabinets was clearly visible.  When they finished, all those marks where the old cabinets had been hung were gone.  They were courteous, came on time, and cleaned up thoroughly.  Kevin was in charge of the job.
Foothill has also painted the exterior of our house twice during the 25 years we have lived here.  Both times they did an outstanding job.  I would highly recommend them.

"The guys (Eric, Ferdy, Francisco and louis) were all pleasant, and on time.  Each day the guys showed up between 8:00am and 9:00am.   They worked all day with very few breaks.
The tile work was done very nice although during the demolition and installation they did not cover any furniture in the adjacent room (our master bedroom) and everything was covered with dust.  My wife and I finally covered the furniture when we realized they weren't going to do it.  The house was a mess.  We are still working on it to clean the dust.
Ferdy only brought one type of shower head and valve as an example.  I indicated I wanted volume control in the valve and I wanted a different type of shower head.  He indicated to me that this would cause a delay in the project and seemed irritated that it might be delayed.  I went with the shower head he brought.  I hate the shower head and now have to go buy another one.  This is an added expense.
The same is true with the tiles.  We asked them to match the travertine we currently had in the shower.  They brought three samples that were considerably darker then what was in the shower.  We went with the lightest one.   Again they indicated they were unable to find any lighter travertine.  I find this hard to believe considering I found it on line with no problem.  They just didn't look anywhere else except the store they normally do business with.  I was extremely dissatisfied with that whole process.  They gave us no time to pick out our own tile.  They gave us no help in choosing the tile.  Three tile samples is ridiculous.  I was expecting they would have catalogs of tiles to pick from. No I got three.   Again It would have delayed the project.
They did an absolutely horrible job on texturing the walls and fixing the molding they broke.  The two guys who did the tile also did the drywall and wood work.  These guys are not jacks-of-all-trades.   They do good tile work but what ever you do do NOT let them touch anything else.  I give them credit for sending out Louis to redo the drywall, molding and paint.  He did a great job.  The problem is if I hadn't told them or complained about it they would have left it the way it was.  Extremely poor quality.
I asked them if they sealed the tile.  They said yes.  In my experience the tile sealer has an extremely bad and strong odor.  I did not smell anything.  In addition. a good sealing job should be done twice withe a 2 hour drying period in between.  Look at any bottle sealer and it will tell you that.  I went and rubbed my hands on the tile and they were covered with dust.  They never sealed the tile.  They basically LIED or they did a grappy job.  I went ahead and sealed it myself.  Another expense.
I never received a receipt for the tile they purchased so mine and my wife's understanding was that they must have stayed within the $2 a square foot allowance that was in the contract.  At the very end of the project Eric came by to see the work and wanted another $597 for the cost of the tile.  We never got a receipt.  We never got to say yes or no to the price.  This is a VERY DECEPTIVE PRACTICE (Don't tell us the price until it is too late).
Beware of their practices.  What you see in the contract is not what you will pay.  All other companies I got estimates from included the glass doors.  Us Home Developers send you to a glass company.  I was told that the glass would only cost  between $900 and $1200.  The glass cost $1500.  Again another DECEPTIVE PRACTICE.  I asked numerous times about the price of the glass because I didn't want to spend over $1000.   Now I am stuck with a $1500 bill.
I would never have these guys do anything in my house again.  They are dishonest in pricing and they rush you to make decisions.  They are more interested in getting the job done than making the customer happy.

"We couldn’t be more happy and satisfied with the renovation work of Michael and his crew at Venetian Builders. Michael’s capability and skills of all the stages in the remodeling that was done to our master bathroom helped us to make the entire work process go very efficiently. Michael was very easy-going with our questions and comments while his suggestions were a huge plus as well. He was also very alert when it came to our agreed budget. We were happy with all the attention that Michael’s crew gave to our house while they were working on the master bathroom renovation project. They covered everything up and down the stairs and hallways and used plastic sheets around the bathroom to block any release of dust. Michael had a very loyal and expert crew who stayed in focus on our house only and they didn’t do anything else other than that. They arrived on time each day during the week and they left the house no earlier than 5pm after they cleaned and organized their tools every time before. This type of working rules gave them the ability to finish our project on time with no extra delays. Michael was at the house everyday supervising the work and he was always available for our notes. We love our new master bathroom and we highly recommend Venetian Builder’s to anyone who is considering a bathroom or kitchen remodel."

"The experience was great from start to completion. My project manager was patient and helpful, even when I couldn't make up my mind on colors for my bathroom remodel. He offered suggestions without pressuring me. Everything turned out better than I imagined when it was all said and done.

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

Most installations take 1-3 days, depending on the number of blocks and customization requirements.

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Options include tempered, laminated, and tinted glass for various needs.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.
