"Armando and his team were great, I was looking for someone to help diagnose a problem with my refrigerator and they contacted me and came to my house the same day to fix the problem. Armando also worked with me to offer the service at a reasonable price which was much appreciated. I will definitely look to Fix It Quick for any other plumbing needs I have in the future, and would recommend them to anyone else looking for this service."

"I called them at around noon. They returned my call in few minutes and informed me they will come after they finished the 2 jobs the had that afternoon. They came around 45 minutes late because of the traffic around 6:00 pm. I am actually glad they came. They were very polite an professional and explained to me that previous repaired was not done correctly and the wrong kind of pipe was used. Metal residues or what looked like it were build up.. The cleared the clog and replaced the valve of the sewer outlet.. He explained to me the sewer outlet was very old and there were lots of derbies from deterioration residues.. They replaced the part which is outside the wall. The had to go to store to get the right size valve. They were very clean. I am happy for the work. He gave me advice what not to put in the garbage disposal and explained the plumbing of my house to me. The whole job did not take very long. I definitely would use their service again."

"I bought the big deal for three men for two hours for $149 - a steal in any situation.  Alex then charged $80 for use of the truck.  Despite horrendous traffic, the three personable young men efficiently cleared out a storage unit, loaded the truck and off-loaded everything in good shape and accessible. They followed my directions, made suggestions of their own and everything worked out well for all.

"It's Christmas day and our kitchen drain is plugged up. What to do? Get on Angies List and look up and quot;plumbers-drain cleaningand quot;. There on the front page is listed (among others) The Drain Company. Highly rated, and a local business in Northridge. (Always like to support local businesses) I check out their prices and note that since it's a holiday, I'll be facing double time charges. But a sink full of dirty dishes says to bite the bullet. Hopefully it won't take too long. (I wonder just what it was that my wife put down the disposal that is causing the problem. Looked like potato debris when I tried to clear the drain with a plumber's helper)

I call The Drain Co and speak with Star, who is a very pleasant person, and tells me she can have a drain tech to my house in an hour, and reminds me about the holiday rate. We set-up the appointment and my wife smiles for the first time today. The tech, Ken, is about an hour late, but explains that he is very busy today. and quot;So what did your wife put down the disposal?and quot; asks Ken, and quot;Potatoes?and quot; Surprised he nailed it on the first guess, I have to ask, and quot; How'd you know?and quot; and quot;Oh, just you and about a million others, and quot; Ken informs me with a smile. My wife is off the hook. Ken gets right to work, and in less than fifteen minutes, he has the drain running free and has even cleaned up the sink area. and quot; This is the easiest one I've done today, and quot; says Ken. Wow. I'm impressed. Worth the holiday rate, but here's another surprise; Ken only charges me the standard fifty-five dollars. I figure maybe it's because it was so easy. Hey, am I going to argue? Not long after Ken leaves, the phone rings. It's Star, informing me that Ken forgot about the holiday rate, but not to worry, the company is standing behind the price he quoted. Well, now I am really impressed. Nice people, good job, and fair-minded - what's not to like?

If you have a problem with your drains, I can strongly recommend the folks at The Drain Company. I think you will be pleased with the experience. And remind your wife to run the water after the disposal does its job to carry the debris out to the main drain."

"Art was extremely helpful and accommodating at every step of the project, from bidding through scheduling and even some additional work we needed a few weeks later. The team worked efficiently, doing a new main line install (going under our sidewalk and concrete without any demolition), re-piped the horizontal pipes under the house with copper (they were 100 year old galvanized), and setup a new shut off and regulator outside. They did everything in a day and cleaned up nicely. When we had other contractors working on our foundation 2 weeks later, they bent over backwards to get plumbers out the next day to make some fixes to drain pipe and at an excellent price. I got quotes from three companies and Repipe Pro was the most competitive and also great responsiveness from Art and his wife Thelma who run the business. To anyone looking for a repipe of a home or new main line or having drain work done, I definitely recommend contacting Art at Repipe Pro."

"After our renters moved out, we decided to do some work on our rental home but had a short time frame to find a contractor. Since this is our rental, we wanted the work to be started right away so that we could quickly find new renters to move in. We called a few referrals and contractors from Angie's List but none was available for a job within the next few weeks. Luckily, we found OMC and Tony. We scheduled a meeting within a couple of days, received a reasonable quote verbally, discussed some additions/changes and received a final quote in writing. We agreed to move forward and his team started demo started within the next couple of days!
We wanted a budget but functional and stylish remodel for the bathroom, mostly to address recurring plumbing problems in the old 1950s shower. This was our first time working with a contractor for a project this large and our first time remodeling anything, so we appreciated the guidance and recommendations on materials and vendors that we received from Tony. For example, he counseled us to use porcelain tile in the kitchen and bath floor for maximum durability, and he helped clarify which items we needed to purchase (tile, fixtures, grout, paint) vs the materials he would provide. If I were to offer any suggestions to folks remodeling their homes for the first time, it would be to identify all of those materials needed as early as possible, and buy extra -- Home Depot has a great return policy for unused materials. I ran out of the tile I purchased a couple of times, slowing down OMC's work. Luckily they were very patient and able to work on other areas of the home until my next shipments came in.
We ended up doing a full bathroom remodel, tearing out a tiny old cave-like shower and replacing it with a lighter and brighter glass-walled stall (installed separately by outside vendor). A dividing wall was cut down into a pony wall, a vent pipe moved, niches built into shower and bath walls, repiping done (hallelujah!), fixtures installed, and tile installed meticulously. We also replaced the most antique elements of the home (wallpaper, linoleum floors, dirty carpet) with newly coated/painted walls and modern flooring.
All I can say is that we now love our "new" rental home! The house is completely transformed and looks contemporary and high end. We were able to raise rent 13% after the remodel.
I've heard many horror stories about contractors over the years, so I feel lucky that my first experience in this world with Tony/OMC was a great one. I can't say enough how amazing it was working with a contractor/team that I could trust to do a solid job on every detail even when I was not around to check up on their progress each day (more like every other weekend). It was my preference to communicate with Tony mostly via text message, and I found it was very convenient to be able to receive updates and make quick decisions in this manner. When any bigger decisions were needed, he would contact me immediately and we would talk on the phone or meet at the house to look at what needed to be done. As the majority of the work wrapped up, Tony and his team were very quick to address any little details we wanted touched up or changed to perfect the work. It was such a pleasure working with him, and I would not hesitate to work with OMC again or to recommend them to my friends... in fact, I already have.

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

On average, it takes one to four hours for a professional to install a garbage disposal. This includes removing the old unit, taking necessary measurements for positioning, removing and fitting new pipes, and installing the brand-new disposal system. If there are unforeseen issues, such as accessibility concerns, the process takes longer.

Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.

Your garbage disposal is not draining because it might have a clog due to food waste, a foreign object, grease, oil, fat, or it may have a broken motor. When water doesn't flush out of the disposal, that's a key sign that your disposal has a clog or needs repair.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.
