"Jack was great to work with. We had to have all new drywall installed in my kitchen, which the drywall and texture need to match up to the existing drywall in the family room. We needed several holes patched after electrical work was done. When Jack and his team was completed you could not even tell there were patches. He was able to match the textures very well. Jack was very professional and had great communication. It was a great pleasure to work with him and will hire again for some future work."

"The quality of drywall and texturing work was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I called on a Friday afternoon and the work was performed the following Monday, just three days later, even though it was on a holiday (Memorial Day)! 1st Choice Drywall, Inc. will be my first choice for any future drywall needs. "We were very pleased with the drywall repair that J Drywall did for us. They were very professional and I appreciated how well they contained the mess and disposed of it. They did such a good job that no one can even tell that we used to have a fairly large hole in the ceiling and part-way down 1 wall. I would definitely recommend J Drywall."

"I am very happy with Calroc Drywall, Inc. George came out and looked at the job, gave me a fair bid, schedule the job, started, and finish the job as bid. The price did not go up. This was a very difficult drywall job, and they completed it beautifully. I am very pleased. I called six companies and Calroc was the only one that did what they said they would do. I recommend them without reservation. Don't waste your time calling other companies."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Popular wall textures include orange peel, knockdown, spray sand, and smooth finishes. Orange peel and knockdown are particularly common choices for drywall as they are simple and cost-effective. Orange peel texture has a lightly bumpy surface resembling the skin of an orange, while knockdown (sometimes called knockout) looks like a stucco finish with flattened high spots. In contrast, popcorn texture has fallen out of fashion, partly due to its past association with asbestos and a shift toward more restrained interior design styles.

Drywall can be installed directly on ceiling joists. In fact, this method is common in many construction projects. Drywall sheets are attached to the joists using screws, ensuring a secure and stable installation. Before attaching the drywall, it's important to mark the joist locations on the ceiling, allowing for accurate screw placement. Proper spacing between screws and careful taping and mudding of joints are crucial to creating a smooth and flawless ceiling surface. If the joists are in good condition and level, installing drywall directly on them is a practical and efficient approach.

The easiest way to remove texture from walls is the soak-and-scrape method. You’ll need to spray a section of the wall with water and let the water soak in and soften the texture. Then, you need to scrape the texture off using a drywall taping knife. This method works best with unpainted walls since paint prevents water from saturating the textured joint compound.

It’s highly recommended to use studs for a TV mount. The last thing you want is to be watching your favorite show when the TV falls off the wall. Studs are much stronger than drywall and quite a bit stronger than drywall anchors but, if you can’t find the studs or there simply aren’t any where you need them, you can use drywall anchors. It’s extremely important to make sure the anchors are rated for the load of the TV. We recommend using anchors that are rated far beyond the weight of whatever you’re hanging. Our suggestion is metal drywall toggle anchors.

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.
