"I reached out to Geico Builders through referral program. Project Manager Mila was super responsive and came out to give me ideas and quote. Once we agreed to the bid they were able to start work in just a few days. I already had a plan and plant list from a landscape architect so I was able to share those documents with them. I had biggest issue with the goffers all over my front yard, the suggestion that Mila gave me was priceless. The way how they did concrete an the amount of rebars they use I knew at that time this concrete stays here for a very long time! Team worked very quickly and efficient always left the job site clean when they left for the day. Mila was also helpful when we added more elements to the original plan. I got several quotes for this job and Geico Builders beat them all. The quality of the work was great so I feel like I got a great deal. Geico Builders thank you so much for all your hard work. We love our new yard!"

"Carlos and his team were very professional (quick to respond, attentive to details, clean site, proper expertise). They applied themselves with patience, perseverance and artistry in dismantling and rebuilding the wall, stone by stone, while anchoring it with mortar as necessary. I intend to hire Carlos again for multiple projects. Thank you for your great work and professionalism."

"We d built our backyard using M&J Prime Builders. They gave us a fair quote. They were awesome in communication, design, stage-by-stage updates, and took feedback and improved their quality. They completed the project within 10 days as per their estimate. Found them honest and trustworthy. Strongly recommend !"

Customers say: Quality work

"Omid and his team built a brand new bathroom in my home. The work was complicated as the home was just built in 2020. The foundation was concrete as thick as 18 inches with post tension cables running through. Omid laser mapped everything and determined the depth of plumbing through precise calculations. His team worked very carefully excavating through the concrete to then go 6 feet deep and access the main plumbing line and then perform all the work to connect the rest of the new plumbing, required by the new bathroom. Omid also utilized the space to the maximum and the bathroom looked much bigger than I had initially thought. The finishing was splendid with octagonal marble tiles aligned to perfection, additionally Omidâ  s team worked on extending storage spaces under the stairwell to further maximize storage value for us. I would highly recommend Omid. He and his team worked round the clock and even on weekends. I was really impressed by their schedule. I have heard horror stories where contractors leave work in the middle of the project or take up multiple assignments and only spend a few hours a day. But with Omid I was pleasantly surprised by the 8 hour work days and when they were running behind they were coming over weekends as well. Great job done at the end!!"

Architects questions, answered by experts

Finding an architect for your project demands looking at the professional’s past work, speaking with prior clients to see what their experience was like, and discussing your project and vision with the expert to see what kind of input they have. Look for an architect that gets excited about your project or has experience with similar projects.

Typically, architects do not build homes in a hands-on sense of doing the actual framing, roofing, or other building. Architects usually do not have the training and experience to build the homes they design. An architect would need to know how to do the specific trades required to build a house, which is possible but not a common practice. A general contractor or homebuilder typically oversees the actual details of building the house that the architect designs.

In most cases, yes, hiring a draftsperson will be more affordable than the cost of hiring an architect. However, it’s important to note that the reason is because these professionals provide different services. Draftspersons are more affordable because they do more general mock-ups that help align your contractors with your vision for your home renovation project. An architect will provide more detailed drawings that include technical specifications, structural considerations, and even mechanical components, like electrical box and HVAC ductwork placement.

Yes, architects help navigate local zoning laws, acquire necessary permits, and ensure compliance with regulations, reducing delays and costly modifications.

The most idyllic building material that encapsulates the feel of Federal architecture is a brick facade, often with bricks alternating between long side and short side. Palladium and arched transom windows are also prevalent, as are flat, white window lintels. More ornate Federal architecture buildings also include columns on either side of the front door. More important than most of the finer details, though, is the symmetry from the exterior. On the interior, ornate plaster moldings and plaster ceiling medallions are indicative of the style.
