"Urban tree care, they came and knocked out three big and tall redwood trees located in my backyard. Heriberto (the tree climber and business owner) came with his crew and knocked all three of them out in a day. Urban tree care is by far the best tree service provider out there. I would highly recommend them to for any tree service or any estimates needed."

"The site assessment and quote were extremely easy and transparent due to a slick app that itemizes the tree removal by type of tree/trunk diameter, with photos, then automatically generates a quote. The crew showed up right on time and were done on schedule. Super happy with the work and would recommend to anybody looking for tree removal services in the East Bay!"

"Green Lane was very reliable and professional. Franklin was very knowledgeable and we appreciated how he came to check in on the team during the service. In total they took care of 8 trees including a removal, done speedily and no mess left behind. Will be working with them again for any and all of our future tree related needs."

"This crew was very professional and respectful of our property. Not a tree limb hit the ground that wasn’t tied off and gently placed where it was suppose to be. Untied and carried out to the shredder. Clean up and replaced moved lawn furniture complete after tree was trimmed. Definatly will hire again!"

"Juniors responded within 5 min of my inquiry. Came out within 24 hours for an estimate. Work was done timely, expeditiously, and professional. Cleaned up debris after job completion. Price was more than reasonable. I'd like to refer them to Stockton,CA ( my dtr's home) but it's out of their service area. I'd give them 6🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

Bradford pear trees bloom in early spring with small white flowers. They typically flower for at least two weeks. In bloom, these trees often emit a foul-smelling odor that’s often compared to rotting fish. Bradford pear trees will sometimes bloom in the fall due to drought or other stress-inducing conditions.

Rock salt or Epsom salt can damage and kill tree roots over several weeks and can even assist in removing the tree's stump. However, you need to drill holes or cut into the stump and surface tree roots to inject them properly with the salt. Repeat the process every two weeks until the roots visibly rot away.

Not all evergreen conifers need to be pruned, but some do. Pruning pine trees is not necessary, but you can do so during June and July if you wish. On the other hand, spruce, firs, and junipers do need to be pruned from late winter to early spring.

Once you confirm a tree is dead, you should remove it. Dead trees eventually fall, and larger trees in particular can cause damage to rooftops, fencing, flowers, and other objects. As we mentioned, letting decayed wood stay in your yard also invites risks to the surrounding landscaping and vegetation.
