General building contractor who currently works independently and is looking to grow business to hire one employee. I do mostly carpentry and cabinet making my self. I do perform other trades depending on how much there is. I have good dependable subcontractors that I call when necessary. Depending on the size of the job, I ask for down payment and progress payments or may just wait to bill the job once it is complete.

"I recently worked with Expert Home Builders to convert my garage into an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), and I couldn't be happier! I had done months of research before choosing them, and I can confidently say they are one of the best companies out there for this type of project. What stood out the most was their attention to detail. They helped me create a beautiful, functional design, and the materials they used were high-quality. The team worked efficiently, completing everything in a timely manner without cutting corners. They handled all the permitting and inspections, making the entire process hassle-free for me. Throughout the project, they kept me updated on progress, answered all my questions, and made sure I was happy with every step. The final product is even better than I imagined—a cozy, modern space that adds significant value to my home. I highly recommend them to anyone thinking about an ADU conversion."

"Israel and his team were excellent. Israel is very responsive and his team was skilled and worked quick. We had a washer leak that caused damage to our laminate flooring. We decided to remove all the laminate flooring and tile, about 1000 sq ft, and replace with vinyl it was demoed in two days and the new vinyl and base boards done in another three. We had several change requests throughout the project and Israel and his guys adjusted quickly to what we needed. The workmanship is very good, his availability and communication is better than most contractors I've worked with and all within a reasonable price. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for home renovation work."

"The work done was very high quality at a reasonable price. Michae and his team are extremely knowledgeable, professional and efficient. They ensure the job is done well and they do not cut corners. I was thoroughly impressed and satisfied with the work done on my home. If you are looking for a team to do a job for you that you can trust, I would HIGHLY recommend Michae and his team. I will be hiring them again in the future if I need more work done, without a second thought. It’s hard to find a team that you can trust to do excellent work. I am beyond fortunate that I found Michae and his team!"

Garages questions, answered by experts

The best options for lubricating a garage door are silicone- or lithium-based lubricants made specifically for this purpose. These products are designed to deeply penetrate the door's components, such as hinges and springs, providing long-lasting protection against wear and tear. A silicone-based lubricant is an excellent choice as it also prevents rust and corrosion and performs well in extreme heat and cold.

It is important to avoid certain products. Do not use heavy, oil-based lubricants or standard grease, as they can attract dust, dirt, and other debris that may get caught in the tracks. You should also avoid using WD-40, as it can strip away any existing lubrication.

You can typically find appropriate garage door lubricants online or at a local hardware store for less than $10.

If you open your garage manually, you don’t need sensors. If you have an automatic garage door opener, sensors are required by law. The federal law UL 325 mandates that all residential garage door openers in the U.S. must include sensors. Designed to prevent accidents and reduce the risk of entrapment, the sensors should be able to reverse the motion of the garage door within two seconds of detecting an obstruction. The sensors are there to keep you, your family, and your belongings safe from a door that might otherwise come down too hard or too fast.

Hearing or feeling vibrations in your house can be unsettling, but there are a few possible causes for a vibrating noise in your wall or floor. Light bulbs and fixtures, circuit breakers, loose pipes, or faulty wiring could all cause vibrations. If you’re not sure what’s causing the vibrations, you can call a contractor to assess your home and narrow down the cause.

For a garage to be included in a home's official square footage, it must qualify as livable space. This generally means it needs to be attached to the home and have permanent finishings like proper insulation, finished walls and ceilings, and adequate ventilation. To be considered livable year-round, it should also have heating and cooling. The specific legal requirements can vary by location, but if a garage is converted into a finished room meeting these criteria, it may be counted toward the total square footage.

In addition to being less expensive, nylon garage door rollers are actually much quieter than steel rollers. However, many homeowners find that they wear out prematurely compared to steel. In general, more expensive steel rollers are more durable. However, their nosiness can make them less than ideal for garages that are located beneath a home's bedrooms.
