The quote was higher than some, but I am confident the work will hold up and it is backed by a year's warranty. Moreover, the crew did touchup painting of the ceiling and at my request returned to push my bed to the exact spot where it previously stood so no carpet pressure marks were visible."

The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because the next day I noticed an indent from where the frame and drywall met so probably just needed one more layer of plaster to even it out I’m not sure. Once dried, Venetian plaster becomes a rock-like substance that’s durable and excellent at resisting damage. If properly sealed to resist moisture and maintained, Venetian plaster should last for at least a decade but potentially as long as a lifetime. Thanks to its mineral content, it can also develop a patina.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.

Venetian plaster walls tend to be beautiful and attractive. While applying Venetian plaster to the walls of your home won't have the same impact on its value as renovating the kitchen or remodeling the bathroom, the plaster can make your home more appealing to potential buyers, leading to higher offers and more competition when it's time to sell.

Depending on the quality of the plaster and the moisture in the building, plaster can last over 100 years in some cases. It may develop cracks in some places, but many find it aesthetically appealing. As long as no structural damage affects the plaster and maintenance is being performed—mainly repairing small patches and addressing water damage—plaster can last a long time.

If the holes in the plaster are small, you can fill them with layers of patching plaster until they’re filled. After it dries, you can sand the plaster and paint over it. If the hole is much larger, consider using bonding plaster first and then a layer of patching plaster, completing the process with sanding and a layer of paint.
