Randy was tough to pin down after our initial meeting (I needed him to help advise what kind of shower valve replacement to buy before starting the work) BUT considering what I was asking was a bit outside his responsibility, when we did connect, he was always extremely friendly and very willing to talk me through it as long as it took. And once the parts came in, he scheduled me within a few days and showed up on the early side of the range we'd agreed upon. He's a very talkative and friendly man, who explained what he was doing and why - something that's important to me, as I want to understand the work performed. Through his explanations, I had a feeling he was extremely thorough and proud to do the job the right way and not the fastest or easiest way. Considering his hourly rate is 20-30 less than most guys I've seen, I'm happy to have found someone who takes pride in his work. I will absolutely call Randy again should I have any additional plumbing needs.

Excellent. Flapper needed replacing and water in the bowl needed adjusting. Unexpectedly the toilet started to over flow so it had to be unplugged as well. Randy was on time did the job quickly and was very fair in his pricing. Would highly recommend him. This is a rental unit and it's good to know and have someone you can rely on to do a good job and is fair with prices. Thank you Randy!

Randy is the Picasso of plumbers. He had to do a little copper sweat work in order to replace the pressure regulator and it came out looking great. Would definitely hire again. Very reasonably priced.

It went relatively well. However, in replacing the pipe, Randy discovered that the line was not angled properly, which was led to the corrosion. This entailed removing drywall and plaster and replacing more pipe and readjusting the line to fall properly. What started out as a simple fix proved to be much more involved. The bathroom noise and vibration required replacement of washers and spigots. Randy worked efficiently and tirelessly to get things corrected to prevent the problem from recurring. The materials were quality as was the workmanship.

1) Toilet: When Randy arrived, the first thing he attempted to do is evaluate the toilet. He stated the toilet did not have enough water and changed the flapper. He stated this would remedy the noise that the toilet was making (it did not, it is still making noise).

2) Washer lines: He was able to successfully tighten the hot and cold lines to the washer.   It took him less 5 minutes

3)Bathroom drains: Understandably he could not fix our pop up drains because we did not have the correct replacement parts

4)Kitchen sink drain: He successfully replaced the kitchen drain within 20 minutes.

5)Kitchen faucet: We requested that it be tightened.  It was functioning well.  He attempted to loosen in, and seemed to be successful when I checked it, but then pressed me to get it replaced.   I had a brand-new replacement faucet that was still in its unopened box, which I was planning to return. He stated it would be best to install the replacement faucet, which I agreed to.  He removed the original faucet and attempted to install the replacement, brand new faucet. He placed the new faucet in the vacated hole of the original faucet and stated it would not fit, therefore he did not attempt to install it. I requested he then re-install my original, fully functional faucet and he stated he would be unable to as he had sawed-off the supply lines. I asked him why he had done that and he stated, ?because I figured it would be the fastest way of removing it?.  He never explained to me that to remove the faucet, he would have to damage it irrevocably.  He never explained to me that he would be sawing through the faucet, as a short cut, to remove the faucet.  He did not notify me notify me of the consequences of sawing through the supply lines, namely that my faucet would be permanently damaged and unusable.

Upon leaving, he stated, ?sorry to ruin your apartment? with a laugh. He stated I should purchase the same make and model faucet that he damaged because ?it?s a good brand?. He stated once I purchased the replacement faucet, I should contact him back and he would install it.

I purchased the replacement hansgrohe brand make and model faucet online. I sent him the invoice with an email requesting him to reimburse us for the cost, since he had irrevocably damaged the original one. He did not respond to the email and after several days, I called and spoke to him. I notified him of the email and requested he respond to it. He did not say whether or not he would respond to the email (he still has not, it was sent on 3/19/16), however he did state that he would not be reimbursing us the cost. I notified him I would be contacting Angie?s List to file a grievance.

Professionalism:
1) He was very unprofessional.  He spent more time talking than working.  I know many parts of his personal life, which I did not query for.  He spent so much time talking, I know about his family, his relationship, his high school activities, his social life, his medical history.   He did not spend 3 hours of labor on my home for which he charged me for.

2) He mentioned that he typically does not like to use customer's tools because he may break them, and proceeded to grab my driller and use it without asking for permission

3)He walked in our home with dirty boots and left marks on our wood flooring.

In summary,
He charged me for 3 hours of work for about 1 hour of successful work (the majority of the time he was talking).  He broke our faucet, and the toilet is still not fixed, and now I need to hire another plumber and buy a new faucet to replace one that was working well before.
Response from Plumberman
"I tried to tighten the kitchen faucet first and when that didn't work I tried to remove it. Because of wear on the threads it couldn't be completely removed, which required me to cut it off. Yes, I could have tried to remove it but I knew the customer wanted to save some money so I cut it off kitchen faucet to show the customer how the new faucet that he supplied would look. When he saw it, he didn't like the way it would look. He told me not to install it and just put it back in the box and that he would return it. I said “fine, just give me a call back when you want to have it installed”."

Upon his arrival, I informed him that a new toilet was being installed because the seat from the old one broke and several people (including another plumber) told me it couldn't be replaced (it's a one-piece toilet). Randy told me the seat could be fixed. He then left my residence to get the appropriate seat and screws/nuts. Problem solved. The old toilet is intact with a new seat.
