I keep coming back to him because of his relentless work ethic, his ease of explaining terms to me and my clients, and his willingness to work with my crazy schedule. "I contacted RC Roofing to get a bid on re-roofing my second story roof in preparation of installing a solar power system.  Rick Clark of RC Roofing explained in significant detail the proper procedure to install a roof when installing solar power.  He recommended the old roof be removed, then the solar contractor install the stanchions, followed by the stanchion flashings and the roof being installed.  In following this process, it is the roofer warranty that applies, and not the standard ten year warranty by the solar contractor.  I thought I might have a challenge in coordinating the work to be done by the roofer and solar  contractor, but I didn't.  Rick contacted my solar contractor (Unique Solar) and arranged all scheduling without me having to be involved.  It all worked out very well.  In a period of two days, my old roof was removed, the solar stanchions installed by Unique Solar, and the new roof installed.
I was very satisfied with the job done, and in everything associated with it.  Rick Clark arrived to inspect my roof shortly after I called.  He wrote a detailed bid proposal that had no ambiguities and explained in detail all work to be performed.  All the RC Roofing personnel were polite, didn?t have loud music on during their work, left no mess or debris whatsoever, and even repaired part of another roof on my house and painted the flashings at no additional charge.  From initial contact with RC Roofing to job completion took only four days; that is very timely.  One last thing I should probably mention is the integrity of RC Roofing.  I requested Rick Clark inspect the roofs of two commercial buildings owned by my mother-in-law.  He reported back to me that the roofs were in good shape and didn?t need to be replaced.  He noted that the mastic was cracking at the base of one of the air conditioners, and that he could repair, but that it would be easy for me to do and less expensive.  This shows the honesty of the company.  I think RC Roofing can be trusted, and I will use them again if the need arises.

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

The telltale signs that your home is ready for repointing include visibly damaged bricks, crumbling bricks, flaking bricks, loose mortar, cracked mortar, gaps between brick and mortar, leaking inside your home, and visible water damage. Consider repointing when going over brick house pros and cons if you're buying a new home. Repointing is also a good idea if you plan to paint, acid wash, or stain your brick home, as it will give you a good base for coloration and prevent repairs after the work is done.

Generally, you can tell if a home is bolted to the foundation by checking the foundation for plates. If you see that your foundational plates connect to wood or bolts protruding from them, this means that you have a bolted foundation. However, it's always wise to bring a home inspector in to confirm if your foundation is secure.

Waiving a home inspection could be beneficial if you’re buying a home in a hot location where the seller has many other offers to consider, especially if other buyers are willing to waive the inspection. However, it’s not usually a good idea to waive an inspection, even on new construction. Inspections can identify problems that could cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars, so a formal inspection is always worthwhile. If you’re having a new home built, a pre-drywall inspection is often the most valuable, but a final inspection before you close is also a good idea.

These are some of the critical considerations when planning to make your home accessible:

  • How wide are your doorways, wheelchair ramps, hallways, and pathways? These should be at least 32 inches wide.

  • Which bathroom modifications will be necessary?

  • Do you need to lower any cabinetry or other fixtures to make them accessible for wheelchair users?

  • Is there enough room to turn around in the shower?

  • Is there a second story of the home that requires a stair lift?

  • Is there proper lighting outside in the dark? If not, a floodlight may be necessary.

While home mold tests can provide a simple identification of mold presence, they lack accuracy and reliability. These kits may detect mold spores but can't pinpoint the source or identify the type. Professional testing, combined with an inspection, is more comprehensive and leads to actionable next steps.
