"I can’t say enough good things about R&B Tile! From start to finish, their team demonstrated top-notch professionalism and expertise. They completely regrouted my shower tiles, and the results are flawless. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and kept the area neat throughout the project. "Jovani Marble (John and men) removed the existing tile in our upper bathroom in one day and for the next two days they installed new Porcelain tile. They had a challenge with a bath tub to a shower conversion which they did an excellent job continuing the tile throughout the whole bathroom area and into the shower. They were clean, fast and polite--thank you! Pam and Jim Hill"

"The job took approx 3 weeks to complete. We were comfortable with the rate of time as each step of the project was done with precision and care. There were no wasted days in the project as all of the sub contracted workers were scheduled ahead of time and came accordingly. From the beginning demolition to the laying of the final piece of tile, the workman were kind, courteous and very neat. I never had to go in after them to clean up a mess. The entire crew was professional and reliable throughout the project. We could not be more pleased at the final outcome of the project. The tile work done by John is splendid! You will be proud to show off your bathroom again, as I am. We will hire John and his crew for further projects."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Uniform spacing between tiles is important for a professional and clean appearance. To achieve this spacing, tile spacers should be placed between the tiles and left in place until the mortar hardens and the tiles are secure. You can use X-shaped spacers vertically in between the tiles and laid flat at the corners.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

Altering the layout of your bathroom will make a big difference as moving or adding plumbing quickly inflates your total bill. While you can recoup more of your cost (in home value terms) by adding a bathroom, rearranging the layout won’t affect your home’s sticker value. However, strategic placements that allow more light or better flow may increase buyer interest.

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.
