"Clyde trimmed a huge tree on my property. I was having a wedding at my house and I need the tree to look really good. I've had it trimmed by others before, but this has to be the best job I have seen thus far! I have more trees I will need trimmed and I will go back to him to get it done! He is trust worthy, not harsh on the wallet, and does a fantastic job without leaving a tornado behind. There was no "scraps" on the ground!"

"Very knowledgeable. GREAT personality, and very, very courteous!Otherwise, it was ONLY that he is not a certified arborist. Price was Right! He would remove tree, grind stump, and plant another tree for $XX.XX IF I DID IT WITHIN +/- 12-24 HOURS. I felt pressured, which I do NOT like. He wanted $300 more, until someone else came. He saw that he was competing for my business, so he tried to negotiate, BUT UNDER PRESSURE OF NOW! I won't accept pressure. I would have done business with him. His prices beat everyone else. Another company I will probably do bus with was $8.00 more."

"I was looking for a landscaper in March to replace my old beat up 40 year old lawn. It was my good fortune to find Frank Mattison on the internet. After I called them Renee showed up to talk to me about what I wanted done, to take her pictures and her measurements. Then I told her what my budget was and her and Frank worked with me to meet an agreed upon price that we both could live with. I did not want the project started until after the rains were having subsided. His work crew with Martin as the leader showed up on 24 April and the job was completed on 27 April. The job consisted of pulling up the old lawn, putting in a new drip system removing a front yard tree and laying down two shades of rock. The colors they showed me offset each other perfectly and also worked well with the paint job on our house. Martin and the two other workers did a fine job and were very helpful when I had questions about what was being done and how it would fit into the plan I had outlined to Renee. Hard workers, knew their job and always worried about not causing harm to the areas that were not being redone. The end result was a great looking front yard and another happy customer."

"They did not complete the job. They left one tree stump without grinding it down. I e-mailed them about it, but they never returned. I paid them in full before I realized it was not done. it was covered up with sawdust. They needed to clean the area to check to see that everything was done. They showed up at times without calling first."

"Medinas Tree Service is the definition of excellent work. They are reliable, efficient and work with integrity. I recommend them to anyone who is looking for tree service from A-Z. They were able to cut and remove a tree in a mannerly time inside of my property. Left no mess behind. Overall I would hire them again. I wish I could leave 10 stars."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

Using vinegar to kill tree roots is just one of the clever ways to use vinegar around the house. The method works best when you apply vinegar as directly to the root system as possible. For example, if the old tree roots and stump are currently exposed, drill holes in the tops of the roots and pour undiluted white vinegar into the holes to soak into the plant. Remember that vinegar can kill the surrounding grass and plants should it pour over the edge.

Generally, you do not have the right to take fruit from a neighbor's tree, even if the branches overhang your property. The fruit is considered the property of the tree's owner. While you may have the right to trim branches that cross into your yard, the fruit on them typically still belongs to your neighbor. However, laws can vary by state and municipality. In some areas, branches that extend into your yard or trees that straddle a property line may entitle you to some of the fruit. The best course of action is to speak with your neighbor, as they may be happy to share. If a conversation is not possible, check your local regulations before picking any fruit.

The best time to prune Japanese flowering cherry trees depends on where you live and the type of flowering cherry tree. Some trees benefit from being pruned toward the end of winter or early spring, after the last freeze. Meanwhile, other trees do well after blooming, in late spring or early summer. Avoid pruning your flowering cherry tree in the early winter, as this encourages open wounds that can lead to infections or infestations.

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.
