"We had just recently bought a home built in the 70’s that had acoustic popcorn on the ceilings and heavy orange peel on the walls throughout the house. Alex and his crew did an amazing job transforming the house into an entirely new space. The plaster work they did on the walls and ceilings has elevated the vibe of the entire place. Alex was a great pleasure to work with throughout the project. He is a man of skill, hard work and integrity. I can’t recommend him highly enough. Thank you Alex!"

"Valles is A Plastering. Joaquin and crew are hardworking and honest. Didn’t have to worry about anything going missing or being overcharged. (They bring their own porta- potty, so no workmen need to come in the house) They want to do things right and are very versatile at fixing things they come across that need fixed. My house is very old, so there were things like dry rot, termite damage, drainage issues and several other things that needed addressed and were. Stucco work is excellent. Very capable. Very professional. Paid attention to detail and cleaned up after themselves every day. Really appreciated that. Feels like I have a brand new house that is so beautiful and looks like I had imagined it would. My neighbors really like it too."

"ZVN Drywall is excellent. Zefe N., who runs the company, has been an absolute pleasure to work with. His estimates for the work proved accurate and were at a very fair price. He listened to and clearly understood our needs while also making helpful suggestions. His crew was efficient, his communication constant, his craftsmanship superb, his timeline for the job met with a day to spare and importantly, he is a truly nice and optimistic person. Without the slightest hesitation I can give Zefe and ZVN my highest recommendation. Five stars of course, more like a ten-out-of-ten."

"Art was extremely helpful and accommodating at every step of the project, from bidding through scheduling and even some additional work we needed a few weeks later. The team worked efficiently, doing a new main line install (going under our sidewalk and concrete without any demolition), re-piped the horizontal pipes under the house with copper (they were 100 year old galvanized), and setup a new shut off and regulator outside. They did everything in a day and cleaned up nicely. When we had other contractors working on our foundation 2 weeks later, they bent over backwards to get plumbers out the next day to make some fixes to drain pipe and at an excellent price. I got quotes from three companies and Repipe Pro was the most competitive and also great responsiveness from Art and his wife Thelma who run the business. To anyone looking for a repipe of a home or new main line or having drain work done, I definitely recommend contacting Art at Repipe Pro."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

The short answer is yes, a sagging plaster ceiling is dangerous. Sagging plaster on a wall is something you should fix immediately, but it isn’t a major concern. If the same type of sagging occurs on a ceiling, however, you could be in danger of your ceiling falling in large chunks. When plaster sags, it loses its strength and ability to hold itself up. The bonds that hold it together are strong, though, so if a sagging area falls, it will take large pieces down with it.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.

Yes, you can use drywall repair techniques for some types of plaster damage. Tiny holes and small cracks in plaster can be patched in similar ways to drywall. You apply the necessary compound to fill the hole, wait for it to dry, then sand it down. For larger damage, like water damage or mold, you need to use plaster-specific techniques and materials.

You can plaster over regular drywall, but it's essential to prepare the surface properly. Before plastering, the drywall should be clean, free of dust, and any loose or peeling paint should be removed. Applying a primer specifically designed for plastering can improve adhesion. Some professionals recommend applying a base coat of plaster or joint compound to create a better surface for the plaster to adhere to. Proper preparation ensures a smooth and durable plaster finish over regular drywall.
