"This was a great company to work with. Manuel is very knowledgeable in many aspects of the construction trade. We recently moved into a new home and had several questions and needs regarding the new home. He is a very pleasant and patient person to deal with and he pointed out several things for us to consider."

Customers say: Quick response

"We hired Scott McQueen to totally renovate our existing barn, a very challenging project. We recently purchased this ranch property. The existing barn was quite old, probably built 50 years ago or more. Scott developed a plan to totally renovate it -- new trusses, new concrete floor (previously was just a dirt floor), new roofing, new siding, new electrical, new paint, new and strengthened interior walls, new doors, etc. Unfortunately we tackled the project at a time of high prices for materials and other elements, but Scott worked with us to significantly reduce costs from the original estimate by redesigning some elements of the plan and working with us to explore alternatives. We couldn't be happier with the renovation."

"Alex and crew removed and replaced 40 sheets of T1-11 4 inch on center 4 x 9 siding on our three story home built on an aggressive incline. Scaffold solution for the project was incredibly complicated. Alex handled like it was routine. Job completed in third of the time of all other bids. Results are first rate custom construction quality. This is due to fact that Alex and crew are a first rate custom construction team. All challenges met with an indelible can do approach. Others hem and haw, Alex gets complex projects done to spec, on time, on budget. Lyubik Construction is the best and has my highest recommendation."

Small jobs welcome

"Patrick is an extreme professional. The job was completed exactly as expected. He used his truck to pick up the door I ordered and any other needed parts. He was very flexible and accommodating with the nuances of our older home. I would definitely hire him again for other projects."

"Domingo took on a front patio build. That we had several contractor come by and look at and say it was an impossible job. Or gave quotes in the 10's of thousands to do. He came out one time took measurements. Called and set up an appointment to do the job. Came with all the materials needed. Him and his crew worked through the day. Completed the job same day and did beautiful detailed work. Couldn't be more pleased with the outcome! Will look to hire him for any of our upcoming home projects. One last thing to state here, it's hard to find good contractors that stick to their word / job bid. Domingo had excellent communication through the whole process. Never lied or tried to sell us more than we asked for. Highly recommend!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

A 5x8 trailer can fit a queen-sized bed plus additional items. It is one of the most common sizes for enclosed cargo trailers, open utility trailers, and dump trailers. U-Haul, a national trailer rental company serving most U.S. markets, claims its 5x8 enclosed trailer can tow up to 1,800 pounds.

Whether you buy a prefabricated shed or build one depends on why you need it and where you stay. For instance, if a simple garden shed is what you’re after, it’ll be less expensive to buy one already built. But if you want a shed with windows, plumbing, and electric work, a custom-built unit might be more suited to your needs.

If you’re building a pole barn in place of a traditional home, lenders usually don’t offer traditional mortgages for these structures. You can also expect higher insulation costs and building permits may not be allowed in your area. Even if you’re just using a pole barn as storage or as a shelter for animals, these structures are less durable than steel buildings and require more maintenance.

While prices fluctuate because of increased demand, fewer supplies, and engineering time, OSB generally remains more affordable than plywood at $1 to $2.40 per square foot compared to the $4.50 to $10 for plywood. Cost is only one factor you should consider when deciding between OSB and plywood.

Yes, barn doors can be too heavy, although the limitation is usually imposed by the mounting hardware you buy and not your home’s framing, unless you’re building an unusually wide door. To keep the weight down, you can opt for 1-by material rather than 2-by material, and choose a softwood like pine rather than a hardwood like maple or oak. Check the weight limits on your mounting hardware, and always attach your door track to studs rather than to drywall anchors.
