"Everything looks good after the work was done. I can finally close my bathroom door. I appreciated the fact that the foreman Erick Baez, went over what was done as they were done. I also appreciated that the two installers Manny Erickson and Jesus Villagomez also communicated with me after they were done to reassure that they did a proper job installing the jacks. Very good to know how the process was going. Great job."

"The man that came out and installed the new hot water heater was very good, he did a good job installing and makeing the connections. The only problem we have now is that the hot water barely comes out of the faucet. It seemed fine when he was done and left, but about a week went by and the water slowed to about a 1/3 of the pressure we had with the old hot water heater. I wish I had his number, I'd give him a call and see what can be done. It takes forever to wash dishes. Other than that, everything seems fine with the installation. Johnathon Barney, If he doesnt have my phone number, my email is [email protected]."

"This is the best service I have had in a long time! They were quick to respond and come to my home. They repaired my toilets several times and recommend replacements due to the builders putting in the cheapest toilets there are. I will never call another plumber again. Thank you PM Prestigious Plumbing!"

"E Mays Plumbing was prompt to respond to my inquiries & came within 24 hours on both occasions I requested services. During the first visit, Mr. Mays showed me how to fix the problem with the water heater in order to save me money (rather than replacing the part or the entire water heater.) After a few weeks, I decided I wanted to replace the entire unit. Mr. Mays came to my home that same day & efficiently installed the new unit & hauled away the old one. He was very professional & even asked permission to pull into my garage in order to load the old water heater onto his truck. I will definitely call E Mays Plumbing for any future plumbing needs!"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.

If you’re wondering if your home even needs a sump pump, consider whether you’ve struggled with flooding issues in the past. If your house is in a flood-prone area, your yard has poor drainage, or you’ve dealt with any other water problems, then it’s likely well worth it to replace your old sump pump with a new one.

3/4 HP is stronger than 1/2 HP. Horsepower measures how much weight can be moved and how fast, or the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second. 1 HP equals 550 foot-pounds per second, so the higher the horsepower, the heavier the load it can lift. While 1/2 HP is a standard, powerful option, 3/4 HP has the extra strength to handle heavier, larger doors with ease.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

When a backflow valve fails, wastewater will flow back into your system, contaminating your drinking water. You’ll immediately notice backflow valve failure from a rotten smell and brown water coming from faucets. Get in contact with a septic pro or a plumber immediately if you suspect this has happened to you.
