"Sergio and his team were amazing. They showed up on time every day and stayed commitment to the timeline set and worked within my budget - no up charges along the way. They removed popcorn ceiling, retexturized ceiling, painted interior of house, installed recessed lights, and painted exterior of house. Very professional - I am ready to hire Sergio for another project!"

"Cal rock Drywall performed the removal of the popcorn ceiling with expertise. They took the time to cover the books and flooring in three rooms . The staff was very compliant in cleaning up after the work the popcorn ceiling removal was completed, including trash removal. As a former Total Quality Management consultant, they performed well as a team ?project manager and talented workforce"

"Very responsive, got a call back the same day so that was great! Gave that an A.
I asked to get a quote for my ceiling and, I thought oddly, was given one over the phone. I've never had anyone quote a job without seeing and measuring the scope of work.
The quote was much higher than I expected given the price quotes that I had seen from reviews here. For example one from late last year was less than $1.00/sq foot and I was quoted over 2x that much. Maybe prices *have* gone up that much, but between the expense and not actually seeing the job site... I'm going to look elsewhere.

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Because of the nature of the texture, it's common for the popcorn texture to loosen while painting. Popcorn ceilings are delicate, and using a heavy hand with a roller or applying overly wet paint can loosen the texture. To avoid a mess, handle the material gently with a roller or brush. It's also smart to test a small area first, and if the texture starts coming off, the ceiling may need repairs or sealing before painting.

Challenges include potential asbestos exposure, uneven finishes, or damage to the underlying ceiling if not done correctly.

On average, repairing a ceiling costs anywhere from $450 to $1,750. However, there are many variables that can impact the price of this project. For example, the type of ceiling material, type and extent of the damage, and local labor rates all affect your costs. Holes and cracks are less expensive to fix, while structural issues and water damage are pricier problems.

No, not all popcorn ceilings have asbestos, but a vast majority do. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned its use in 1973, although it still may have been used up through the early ‘90s. But, in general, homes built or remodeled before the early ‘80s likely utilized materials with asbestos. That being said, a professional test is the only way to determine for sure.

As stylish new design options become more popular, modern drop ceiling designs also include metal tiles of tin and copper, which can create a dark, moody atmosphere in your basement bar, home theater, or game room. There are also a variety of modern lighting ideas for drop ceilings, including recessed and surface mount lights.
