Small jobs welcome

"Dave was great! The best communication and transparency I've seen in a long time. Dave explained what he needed to do to install the dryer vent and got right to work...NO wasted time. He installed the vent and made sure it was working properly. The vent looks great! Dave is knowledgable, professional, and a nice person. He also stayed in touch, letting me know how soon he would arrive and when he was on his way. I really appreciated that. We will definitely call him the next time we need a handyman."

"Bodhi installed a motion detector system that works very well and most importantly my wife is pleased. He also came up with an innovative solution to fix the water flowing over the gutter on to the patio . He is dependable and fair priced. I would recommend him highly."

"I use Angie all the time to hire pros and I am never disappointed. I hired Mike Handyman to fix a sliding bathroom door. Mike did a great job and even patched and painted the hole that was needed to get to the wheel. He also fixed my tenants dishwasher that wasn't installed properly and fixed the back door. I will use him for all my small jobs going forward. My tenant was very happy!"

"Julian was hired to replace the kitchen sink. Upon arrival, he discovered there was corrosion in the lines that didn’t allow the water to be shut down manually. He replaced the lines installed the kitchen faucet. Everything works beautifully. He did it under two hours. Amazing job, will hire again!"

Customers say: True professional

"Leo was very helpful and quick to respond. We’re happy with how our 2 bathrooms turned out. Project was completed within the time promised. Our only complaint is that the workers did not clean up very well. But overall, we’re satisfied and we’ll use them again."

"Jessy was a lifesaver for me and my family! We experienced a cracked toilet gasket that had been leaking for an unknown amount of time that rotted completely through our sub floor. After the initial shock and living through the dry out process, we were assigned a contractor to rebuild our floor, vanity and sink, destroyed walls and shower. It was nearly impossible to get the assigned contractor out to do any work, usually waiting days to hear back from calls trying to pin down when the work was supposed to begin. It took a month to get the walls replaced. Every deadline was missed for one excuse or another. In desperation my husband asked a zoom group he attends if anyone could recommend someone and Jessy's name and number was given. My husband called him the next day and Jessy arrived to assess the disrepair and offered a quote that was affordable to us. He was available to start within 2 days. We had to fire the first contractor and get the OK from our HOA so we had to wait about another week. Luckily Jessy was still available for the job and brought his crew to finish the demo and put in a new subfloor. He was able to complete the entire demo and rebuild plus lay the flooring on the first day! Tomorrow the toilet and vanity go in then the rebuild of our tub/shower surround will start. Jessy is a Godsend! He is dependable, hardworking, meticulous, respectful and shows up on time! I wish we would have been able to call him sooner but maybe this review will help someone else avoid the crushing anxiety we've endured. Do yourself a favor and decline whoever may be assigned to your plumbing emergency and CALL JESSY. You will save yourself a world of pain."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Smoke detectors come in two different options: hardwired or battery-operated. While hardwired units are attached directly to the home’s electrical system, a battery-operated smoke detector only needs a simple battery for operation and can be placed virtually anywhere in your home. Some homeowners may mistakenly think their battery-operated units are hardwired in because all their units are interconnected, but many battery-operated units can operate within a smoke alarm network in your home.

Yes, a chimney damper is necessary. It controls airflow in and out of your fireplace, helping to retain heat when closed and allowing smoke to escape when open. Without a damper, your home could lose warmth during cold months, leading to higher energy bills. It also helps prevent downdrafts and keeps animals or debris from entering the chimney. In short, it’s essential for efficiency and safety.

Yes, there are regulations on using wood stoves, particularly concerning emissions and installation standards. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sets emission limits for wood stoves to ensure they burn cleaner and more efficiently. Additionally, local building codes may have specific requirements for installation and venting, so it's essential to check with local authorities before installing or upgrading your stove.

Yes, a faulty or broken light switch can be a serious fire hazard. Malfunctioning switches, often due to loose connections, exposed wiring, or overheating, can cause sparking or arcing. If you hear a crackling, popping, or hissing sound when you use the switch, it indicates live electricity arcing inside, which is a significant hazard that can ignite nearby flammable materials. If you suspect your light switch is faulty, turn off the power to that circuit at the breaker and contact a qualified electrician to remedy the issue.

No, but they both serve distinct life-saving purposes. Smoke detectors primarily sense the presence of smoke, typically caused by a fire, and emit loud alarms to alert occupants to evacuate. In contrast, carbon monoxide detectors monitor the levels of carbon monoxide gas, an odorless and colorless but deadly substance produced by incomplete combustion of fuels. When CO levels become dangerous, CO detectors sound alarms to warn inhabitants of potential poisoning risks.
