"S & H Tree Service showed up promptly on time to cut down the Eucalyptus and they worked very efficiently, while paying attention to the safety of the neighbors that were around watching the trees come down.  They completed the job in less than the time they quoted and cleaned up the entire area afterword.  Great work on each of the projects that they have done for us and I recommend them highly to anyone.

"Great find. I hired Fil and Green Care to trim two queen palms that make a mess every September. The price was what it should be from past experience, and I'd had two bids far higher. When they arrived, they declined as the trees were diseased and dangerous. He explained the problem, and the risk, and encouraged me to shop around after giving me a price. His were low moderate for these very tall trees, according to three pricing websites for average cost. I'm glad I hired them. First, they are honest, good people, and communicate well. Second the trees were removed safely, and they cleaned up excellently. I will call them for all my tree needs in future, as I ihave a canyon side that sometimes needs attention."

"I'm so grateful that I found Pope Tree Services. I had struggled finding help with trimming the overgrown trees along my driveway. Pope Tree Services showed up & did the job so well. I will now be able to notify the propane company that the trees are trimmed & ready for their next delivery without bumping their mirrors & scratching the truck. I hope that other delivery trucks like UPS will begin coming to deliver packages at my house again. I recommend this company to assist you with similar tree trimming challenges. Their prices are reasonable & their services are promptly scheduled."

"So so happy we found this tree service. They are respectful, great at what they do, safe, and CLEAN. I’m top of all that their prices are more than fair. Watching them climb our huge Eucalyptus was terrifying but impressive. We will absolutely use them again in the future and highly suggest them."

"Mike and Down Under Landscaping were great.  They were accommodating of my needs, arrived on time, worked hard for the entirety of the period and hauled away all of the removed plants.  I would definitely hire them again for yard maintenance.

"They were great. It went great for several months and then they were selling up. They come and do something completely different. It started out really well and I don't know what happened. A new person will show up each time and they never knew what they were supposed to do or what we were signed up for. It was kind of weird and we stopped them. When I had a regular service with them for six months it went well but then the new guys didn't know what they were suppose to do. I don't know if the company got sold or what, it just went downhill. One guy called up and said it was time to retry the service again and that the interest free term got really easy and it was lower than what it was six months ago, so he topped us into it, after which it really went bad. I lost confidence in them."

"The provider showed up on time as promised. After about 40 minutes the service guy was wrapping up and had to ask him to redo some sections that were clearly not clean. Also missed stairs completely. They did finish it up and final job was fine. Had some trouble communicating with service guy as his English was limited. Wasn't terrible but wouldn't use again.

"We had a very tall palm tree in the front yard, heavily laden with old fronds.  We wanted the entire tree removed.  He came out with two workers and a truck.  One fellow scaled the tree, trimmed the fronds, and then cut the palm down in sections.  The debris was cleaned up and hauled off.   The remaining low stump was ground down a few days later, as had been explained and agreed upon prior to any work being done.
During the entire process, the owner made sure that nobody walked under or near where the work was being done.  He would divert people around the work site and, out of necessity, stop the workers, if anyone got too close.  Fortunately the workers didn't have to stop too often, because the owner kept a close eye out for anyone approaching.  We live in a area where normally there are a lot of people walking within a few feet of the tree.
When the stump grinder came, his equipment broke in the midst of the grind.  I was immediately notified of the problem.  I am aware equipment breaks down, so it wasn't an issue.  It is inevitable and unavoidable at times.  They explained what happened and apologized profusely.  We made arrangements for the completion of the work.  The grinder completed the work as agreed.
I think what surprised me was the amount of ground up material produced from the stump grinding.  Prior to any of the work beginning, I had been asked if I wanted the ground up stump material removed or not.  I had been warned that it was several inches of material that would be produced.  In this case, it was my own fault for not having them remove the grind remains, because I had been asked.  As an additional note, if a homeowner wants the grind remains, as it seems like it would be a great mulch, the stuff is fantastic.  So, I can see why they (rightly) don't automatically assume everyone wants the grind material removed.  They did explain and ask.
What impressed me about the owner was the passion he expressed for trees.  If I had trees that needed pruning or trimming, I am confident he would do so artfully and would hire him again.
The price... of course I would like to pay less, who wouldn't?  I had higher and lower quotes, but the price was acceptable for the problems this tree presented.  This owner is licensed and bonded, where most (if not all) of the lower quotes were not.  I would recommend him without hesitation.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It depends on the problem, the affected part of the tree, the risk of the pathogen spreading, and the overall health of your tree. Many diseases, fungal infections, and insect infestations can be successfully treated, especially if the issue is only in a few branches. However, if a disease is too widespread, too severe, too easily spread, or in the roots, the tree will likely need to be removed.

Aim to have your trees inspected and pruned in early spring. At this point in the year, tree service professionals can note where there is old growth from winter and cut that back to encourage new growth for the rest of the year. Pruning at the wrong time of the year could make your trees prone to diseases.

Generally, you’ll want to avoid pruning more than 25% of the tree’s canopy at one time. While pruning your tree is important, it’s possible to do it too often or to go too far. Again, this is why hiring a tree trimming pro to do the work is wise. However, if you do decide to DIY, going slow and trimming gradually is the name of the game.

The safest way to cut down a tree is to make sure you’re completely prepared and have done all the necessary safety checks, including double-checking your equipment is in good working order, you have plenty of clearance to fell the tree, you’re wearing all the safety gear, and you have a partner to help you (who should also be wearing safety gear).

The best tool to cut trees is a chain saw. You can adjust your chain saw to the correct size based on the size of the branches, offering you the fastest and cleanest cut for medium- to large-sized trees. Depending on the type of chainsaw you use, you can cut through larger trees than you would with a more manual tool like an ax.
