"Sal and his crew provided excellent service. He shows a particular concern for the overall health of the tree, and uses his skill as a certified Arborist to assess where the tree is in its life cycle, what particular stresses or diseases it may be presently subject to, and recommends a course of action which is best for the tree's continued health and survival. He also pays particular care to any wildlife which might be nesting in the tree at the time.
I would recommend Sal's company (S & H Tree Service) to anyone and everyone. I will call no other man for the job, and intend to use him exclusively from now on.

"The initial visit from Rob was great. He accommodated an early time to provide a verbal estimate. After that, I was disappointed as the job was not completed within the expected time frame (2-wks), and initial attempts to follow-up were unsuccessful. With some persistence in calling, Rob finally did arrive to complete the job. The results were terrific so far, hopefully the lawn and yard will look even better with his continued efforts."

"When I called, the owner gave me the estimate I asked for, walked me through options and different monthly and price plans, set up an appointment that was convenient to my schedule and told me what to expect and what employee would be handling the job. I recently moved into a home that had been vacant and had spiders throughout the house and gophers inhabiting the yard. At the scheduled appt time Cliff showed up, neatly dressed, extremely professional throughout the assessment. He gave me some additional options I had to rid the home of the spiders and made suggestions for monthly services. I have a 15000 sq ft lot that I had not discussed with the owner and Cliff was not expecting. However, he worked with me, scheduled my next appt again within my limited available schedule, and was very pleasant to work with. He showed up for my second appt on time and completed the job to my satisfaction. I can't say enough about this company knowing how to do their job and satisfy their customers."

"The young guy who did the work was prompt and professional, but not well trained. He power washed my patio BEFORE blowing the leaves and sticks off my roof, so all the debris landed on my just cleaned patio, and he didn't follow up to clean it off.
He forgot to do the garage door and was all packed up when he asked me to inspect, so I just let it ride.

"So so happy we found this tree service. They are respectful, great at what they do, safe, and CLEAN. I’m top of all that their prices are more than fair. Watching them climb our huge Eucalyptus was terrifying but impressive. We will absolutely use them again in the future and highly suggest them."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Yes, many services include stump grinding to eliminate tripping hazards and improve aesthetics.

Yes, the same rules discussed above apply to your neighbor: They can trim one of your trees as long as they’re only cutting the portion that extends into their property. Your neighbor is not allowed to access your property without permission, nor can they cut past the property line.

Early signs that a tree is struggling include premature leaf shedding and lesions or other strange markings. Peeling bark, dead or rotten branches on the ground, and a conspicuous lack of leaves can all be signs that a tree has started to die. By the time a tree starts leaning, it’s usually too far gone to save.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.

Generally, you’ll want to avoid pruning more than 25% of the tree’s canopy at one time. While pruning your tree is important, it’s possible to do it too often or to go too far. Again, this is why hiring a tree trimming pro to do the work is wise. However, if you do decide to DIY, going slow and trimming gradually is the name of the game.
