"Sal and his crew provided excellent service. He shows a particular concern for the overall health of the tree, and uses his skill as a certified Arborist to assess where the tree is in its life cycle, what particular stresses or diseases it may be presently subject to, and recommends a course of action which is best for the tree's continued health and survival. He also pays particular care to any wildlife which might be nesting in the tree at the time.
I would recommend Sal's company (S & H Tree Service) to anyone and everyone. I will call no other man for the job, and intend to use him exclusively from now on.

"Exceptional tree care service! From start to finish we were impressed. We had a variety of 10 palms, and a Bauhinia (Hong Kong Orchid Tree) trimmed. Some of the palms are over 20ft tall. We also had a Eucalyptus tree, two palm trees, and a 25-year-old, huge 10ft.x3ft Ficus hedge removed. Darren and his crew are friendly, professional, conscientious, fast and efficient. Loved working with Darren and his lead man Jr. We have had our trees worked on numerous times in the last 10-years and no one has come close to the quality of work of Top-Notch!"

"The service went very well. They laid traps and came back a few times to check their traps; even though they didn't catch the rat, they were able to plug up a hole which may have been a point of entry. I felt comfortable giving them access to our home. Mark was very knowledgeable."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

While there is a lot of debate about whether boiling water is strong enough to kill tree roots, it is not best to remove the roots from large, old trees. You may be able to weaken young roots enough to remove them manually, but boiling water will likely not do the trick for large root systems.

Ensures complete removal and mitigates risks of underground root damage.

If you ever want to see the literal fruits of your labor, you’ll need to prune your peach trees. Without pruning, the trees may not grow or bear fruit since the nutrients will be divided among too many offshoots to provide any with enough energy to produce the peaches. Plus, if parts of the peach tree become diseased or pest-ridden, pruning can nip those problems in the bud.

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily. Then, build a small campfire on top using kindling and firewood. You’ll need enough to keep the fire going for many hours to completely burn out the stump, especially if it’s large.

Monitor the fire closely to ensure it doesn’t spread, and have a hose on hand if it starts to get out of control. When the fire is out, break apart the burned stump and dig out what’s left of it.

If this sounds like a good option, learn more about how to burn a tree stump before attempting it, as it does come with risks.

We don’t recommend DIY tree trimming for a few different reasons. First, the tools required to trim a tree can be costly, up to $1,100 or more, for the ladders and specialized saws needed.

Safety is another concern, especially when working with more mature trees. As a guideline, you should only DIY tree trimming when branches are less than two inches in diameter. Any more, and the safety risk becomes too high, which could lead to catastrophe. For this job, it’s safest to let a tree-trimming professional assess the work needed.
