"Went largely as expected. No real surprises. Although the initial cost was well exceeded 5k vs 10k. Slight disappointment a thorough cleaning was not assured. However experience had us procure a magnet from harbor freight tools to guarantee the driveway was nail free - and we did find nails. Otherwise O7 seemed competitive and did satisfactory work. Re-hire for another job, yes would at least allow consideration for bid. "
"The lady who answered the phone was very friendly when I called to schedule an estimate. Dan (?) arrived right on time and gave a detailed estimate of the work that needed to be done, in addition to identifying a couple of our mystery trees.
A crew of five arrived on time and got right to work, ultimately filling an entire truck with debris. Though my husband and I tried to clear a path through the insidious morning glory to the elms the day before, there were still vines everywhere, and I woud not have been surprised to incur an extra charge for the additional labor involved of clearing out the vines just to get to the trees. And the dead fallen tree? Yep, cleared that too. However, there was no additional charge and that area of our yard looks so immeasureably better that I still wander back there and stand in awe at how incredible it is.
The crew touched base as they worked, inquiring as to what kind of shape/growth we wanted as the trees grew. Additionally, they cleaned up a bunch of fallen leaves (see 4 liquidambars) on our deck and driveway that had nothing to do with the tree trimming. They trimmed boughs near the house without dropping them on the roof, as we've had happen in the past (at a place we rented, with people we didn't hire, and a roof we didn't own, thankfully). I knew our trees had been neglected for many years (since a couple or homeowners and a foreclosure ago, I would guess), but I could not imagine just how much better our property looks. And I'm sure the pedestrians are glad to no longer get attacked by our elms when they walk past. (The pedestrians, not the elms.)
I would not hesitate to call on California Aborist again or to recommend them to a friend. In fact, they also do landscaping, and when that's in our budget, it's likely I'll call on them again.
"My water heater hadn't been serviced in years... they took it down to the bones and cleaned the rust and build up and replaced the ionizing coil in the center that had about an inch of residue built up on it. They cleaned out the cabinet in which the water heater was stored, sealed cracks in the walls and then created a new vent on the ceiling for proper ventilation while keeping debris to a minimum. Excellent and thorough work."
