"I may have been lucky, but the time from my request for an estimate to the time of project completion was 5 days! Gerardo and his crew were knowledgeable, helpful, efficient, clean, with attention to detail. And the price was right. The new canyon fence is beautiful."

"While Steve is a salesman, he offered ideas that no one else had, because he actually came out to the property to asses our needs. I understand all the challenges of the virus, but you need to see the job in order to asses it. He's promised me a bid that would be separated out so we could make our own decision if his ideas were doable and right for us. All that remains is to get the bid. As one who was a contractor, I appreciated Steve's candor and explanations. Their experience demonstrated to me that they are going to do more than just slam an iron fence in and go away. Steve took the time to qualify my ideas and desires while suggesting options which made sense. In short, he seemed to care, wanting to find the perfect balance that would leave us with a backyard fence that would bring us decades of pleasure in it's quality, appearance and installation. Hoping to be able to use them. I will let you know!"

"Raul did a great job for us. He took over a bathroom remodel job that had been started by another contractor. We know contractors don't like to do this, but Raul was willing to take on the challenge! He was excellent at communicating with us throughout the project, and kept to the budget. We would definitely recommend him!"

"Francisco and his team did an awesome job on our trees and landscaping. My wife and I purchased a home that had been vacant for over a year, so there was lots of overgrown areas and plant debris, and FG cleaned up everything and made it look like a park. The staff was friendly and communication was good. Francisco captured every detail of my requests and made sure to get every item completed. I am very happy with all of the results! Thank you!"

"At the onset, the level of effort to remove the hedge was underestimated time wise so it took a day more than at first thought however, the quality of the finished product is amazing. Both my neighbors and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. Secondly, the crew that installed (Foreman Johnny, workers Emilio and Duce) were pleasant, professional and about the most polite contractors both my neighbors and I had the pleasure of dealing with. Cost wise it was comparable and better than most quotes in most cases. If I EVER need a fence again I will go with Sonrise."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

Yes, fence posts need to be installed below the frost line to ensure stability and prevent heaving caused by freezing and thawing cycles. The frost line is the depth at which soil freezes during winter. By placing posts below this line, often around 3 to 4 feet deep or as recommended for your specific region, you reduce the risk of the ground shifting, which can lead to leaning or unstable fences. Adequate depth provides better anchoring and helps maintain the fence's integrity, ensuring it remains secure and upright throughout changing seasons.

There are many types of fences available to homeowners, including wood, chain link, wire, concrete, brick, corrugated metal, and more. Some fences offer practical solutions for pets and wild animal deterrents, while others offer aesthetics that boost curb appeal. Consider what you’re looking for in a fence to help you decide which is best for your home.

A high-quality wrought iron fence is one of the most durable options available and can last a lifetime, or even centuries, with proper care. However, wrought iron is susceptible to rust and corrosion if not maintained.

To maximize its lifespan, regular maintenance is required. This includes:

  • Cleaning the fence with soapy water every six months.

  • Scrubbing away any rust or corrosion as soon as it appears.

  • Applying a new coat of paint or refinishing the fence every few years to protect the metal from moisture and oxygen. The recommended frequency varies, with sources suggesting anywhere from every 1 to 10 years.

If significant rust develops, it's wise to hire a professional fence repair company to clean the rust and reseal the fence. The cost to refinish a fence is typically between $5 and $12 per square foot, a worthwhile investment to ensure its longevity.

A horizontal fence is typically more expensive to build than a vertical fence, often costing between 10% and 20% more. The higher cost is due to the need for a higher grade of lumber and more posts to prevent the boards from sagging, which increases both material and labor expenses. Despite the higher price, horizontal fences tend to be more durable and offer a more distinct, modern look compared to the more common vertical picket style. However, they may not be the best option for privacy, as there can be slight gaps between the horizontal rails.

No, fence posts aren’t always set in concrete. If you don’t want to use concrete footings for your posts, expanding foam is a popular alternative. Expanding foam and concrete each have certain pros and cons. For instance, foam is easier to install and more sustainable, but concrete is sturdier and less expensive.
