"Very respectful and friendly. Needed to have a site cleared for construction and they were able to accommodate my needs as I lived on the property at the time of clearing and grading. I was more than satisfied with the results and time it took for them to complete the job."

"Chris and his team arrived with a flat bed truck and went to work after walking the job and providing a quote that I found reasonable.  In the end; the flat bed truck was completely filled to the top,  and side yard was completly clear of yard debris.  All in all, Silverback hauling removed approximately 4 - 5 dumpster loads in a matter of 2 hours and removed the last 16 feet of old redwood fence.  Note: For me to haul the debris away it would have taken me approximately 20 or so runs to the dump, gas and the entire day.
I would recommend Silverback Hauling and Demolition to any of my friends, neighbors and anyone.  Chris, thank you for your time and providing updates via phone calls.
To all of my fellow Angie list members, Chris believes in communication by phone, which seems difficult for other contractors but not Chris.  Fantastic customer service!

"I cannot rave enough about Warren, Oscar and the whole team. In June of 2014, Down aunder Services landscaped our entire backyard (almost a third of an acre), transforming a rocky, dirt-filled wasteland into a gorgeous, lush space with a tiered hill and grass. WOW! We loved it so much that we signed up for their maintenance (gardening) services as well and most recently hired them again for our front yard. The prices are also extremely reasonable and I appreciated the open lines of communication. They finish every job on time and are very transparent about costs and expectations. We are moving to a new home and will be calling Warren again for all of our future landscaping needs there as well.

"Larry did great work. He is the right balance of meticulous and efficient. He communicated what was needed, and he spelled out his plan of attack. I have used him on multiple occasions for painting, patch and repair, and some help with basic plumbing. I have recommended him to friends and family. Thanks for your good efforts."

"Great for me. Not so good for Roto-Rooter. Work took over three hours to fix problem but Matt stuck to it and go the job done with no increase in estimated cost. Very professional and thorough. Ran a camera through all pipes and explained what the problem area was. Highly recommend."

"California Smartscape provides a landscape design service you will appreciate as the owner, Richard, helps you develop your best options to take a nondescript landscape and makes it remarkable. Andrew Vesey, the designer has broad and specific knowledge in hardscape design. If you have ideas or not Andrew will help you bring options into focus. He has a creative mind and well-thought out plans to put your landscape project in the best possible condition. His work crew is highly commendable because of their talent and work ethics. They are on time, work hard, and pick up the site at the end of the day. They are gifted and dedicated workers who are professional, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. If you have any questions or concerns, the Project Manager, Alvaro, will address them. He stands behind his work 100%. You can depend on your area lasting a long time since the materials used are excellent quality. The outcome is a beautiful oasis and one I will enjoy for many years."

"I don't use contractors much because I do most of my repairs and construction. But after my 30,000 gallon pool started dropping 3 inches of water a day after spending about $10,000 in various repairs over the past 5 years on it, I decided to have it demolished, a task that was way out of my scope. After meeting with 4 other contractors, I chose Transcend because John came off as a straight shooter and just a nice guy. Their bid was the lowest which was almost 70% lower than the highest bid. I told John what my plan was for the backfill area, a garden oasis with trees. He assured me, and even set aside before the start, that he would obtain "good" dirt and not construction backfill dirt. After work, I would stop by the property and check on progress. They worked efficient and effective as there was no damage to any of the structures on my property. The biggest factor though of me writing this review, as I don't write often, is these guys' integrity. As the project got delayed 2 days because of rain I knew these guys were behind schedule and that they had another job lined up. Nonetheless, while I was at work, they rejected a load of dirt that was dropped off in front of the property and made the truck come back and pick it up as it was full of sand and gravel unsuitable for planting. This, and procuring better dirt, cost them an additional day but spoke volumes to their integrity and client's best interest. With no reservations, I recommend these guys and not for just their affordability, but great workmanship and a pleasure to work with."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

This is fairly rare, but sometimes the local government or a group like a historical society will label a tree as a landmark, or historical item. These designations almost always come with a small, on-site plaque for identification, but you should also be able to look up protected trees in your area on a city website or similar list. If the tree in question is a landmark, call your local government and ask how to proceed before making any plans.

Costs vary, but you can expect to spend between $1,000 and $4,000 to prepare land for a mobile home or before you build a house. You’ll need to clear enough land for the foundation, which may require leveling or grading, as well as removing trees, stumps, and plants. Don’t forget to plan for permits and fees and the installation of a gas line, water line, and sewer main.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

Pros will assess your soil type, property geography, and rain patterns for optimal slope.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.
