"The Arborist came and reviewed the work I was asking to be done and explained in detail what should be done. I was given a price and then he deducted for the Angie's List discount. The price was terrific based on the other 3 quotes I was given for the same work. There were 3 crews (1 for feeding, etc., 1 for tree/trunk grinding, 1 for tree trimming and removal. All 3 crews arrived on time, were professional, reviewed the work to be done in advance and at completion, and were friendly. The work was completed as expected, the clean up was great, and I am completely satisfied and would use them again in the future."

"Excellent job with my difficult job of a 60 ft pine tree over 2 houses. They got it done no problem in one day with a fair price. Very professional and safe. I will be recommending them to everyone I know."

"Ignacio and his guys were great!! They trimmed one large Palo Verde and one large Mesquite. The work was done in a timely manner and the trees came out perfect. They also removed one small tree and did a nice job on that also. I would definitely recommend them. Thank you so much for an awesome job!! ð ð"

"A certified arborist came out and diagnosed what needed to be done to help my heat-damaged trees. He advised on watering and fertilizing techniques that might help them. A few days later someone treated the trees with fertilizer, leaving more for me to use. A few days after that a crew of tree-trimmers trimmed dead branches and even cut out a couple of uninvited trees that wanted to take over the existing ones. The crews were courteous and professional. "First of all, I appreciated that a certified arborist was on our job. We have two beautiful trees in our front yard that needed to be trimmed, thinned and shaped. I appreciated that all of the workers were easy to communicate with and that their service truck looked like someone cared about their image. Attention to details like this gave me assurance that my trees would receive the same attention to detail. I especially liked that an actual, pleasant person answers the phone. If you have trees you care about, call Tree Logic!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

Tree pruning is a common and helpful tree maintenance technique that involves carefully cutting and trimming unwanted branches so that the tree can continue to grow and thrive. Pruning is done carefully and intentionally. Tree topping is a frowned-upon method that involves removing and cutting most or the entirety of the top of the tree, including structurally important branches.

Common signs that a tree is rotting include dead branches, a leaning trunk, peeling or cracked bark, leaf discoloration, and the presence of fungi. If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to hire an arborist near you to inspect your tree and determine if it can be saved or if it needs to come down.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.

Planting trees far enough from your foundation will protect your home from root damage, but if you’re dealing with existing trees, you can still guard against roots. Root barriers form a physical boundary that will prevent roots from encroaching on your foundation and can help save you from expensive foundation repair costs.
