Chip Off The Old Block

I had a pine tree that had several dead branches that the crew cut off but didnt not seal the cuts. Now i have tree sap running down the tree, all over the ground and on my vehicle. It says on the internet.. quote " it's generally not considered good for tree sap to run down a tree after a branch is cut, although a small amount of sap seeping from a fresh cut is normal and not a cause for concern; excessive sap flow can attract pests and diseases, so proper pruning techniques to minimize sap leakage are recommended. " unquote. I am concern about all this sap mess. My question why wasnt the spot where the brances were cut not sealed with tree tar or plastic. Now CHIPS TREE SERVICE has left my tree open to disease and insect infestation!!!! I would not hire them again for trimming trees.

My experience with Chips Tree Service was horrible! After waiting over three weeks for them to complete the project, they cancelled the service! I am left with an ugly front yard with clumps of dead grass and dirt. Their customer service is unacceptable, cancelling appointments at the last minute, promising installation dates and then moving them and when I told them I was angry at the latest appointment cancellation (for a supervisor to meet me and look at the yard), they cancelled the contract! I did not threaten them or use inappropriate language. I will NEVER recommend them for any service.

Extremely professional! I am impressed and satisfied with the services I received. I did not feel pressured to upgrade anything I did not want, and I showed them my own yard design which they enhanced and made even better.

The entire process went very smoothly! The entire company, from Brianna scheduling to Mitchell for the visit, the entire visit was professional and thorough. They were punctual when arriving for the service that took place over three visits. Christian and Ralph were amazing in planting our saguaro. Rolando and Carlos were great at grinding a stump from an old tree they removed. They also left me treatments for both my Ficus tree and a Citrus tree that the previous owner left in bad shape.

Romero and his crew did outstanding work. Ralphie and the guys were very nice and professional. They took about 35 minutes to do both trees, cleaned up leaves and twigs and left the yard looking great. I will definitely hire them to do this work next year when it's needed.

Jack Hurndon, estimator, quoted us for services on Monday. He answered all our questions/concerns. He was excellent. Monday afternoon appointments for trimming and soil injection were made for the next day. Tuesday all services were done in a professional manner. Kelly, bio feed specialist was very informative regarding the important of after service care. Moses was excellent as a trimmer and his team worked together to assist him. They cleaned up the yard and made sure the street/yard was in the same condition they found it. I was very impressed with the Chip Off The Old Block team. Plan on using them again next year.

This was a multi-faceted job. Two large trees in front yard, a mesquite and a palo verde, needed trimming beyond a ladder's reach. The crew leader Diaz climbed the trees with safety ropes and harness to reach and thin the two trees. He also lightened at least one third of the weight of a tree in the rear yard, leaving the portions needed to maintain privacy. Arborist Jack then visited my property in order to design a support for that tree to preclude the likelihood of it falling and damaging pool equipment and the house, which was subsequently installed by a specialist technician. Good job in all respects.

Very well--they were polite, punctual, thorough and neat. This company is our go-to for tree care in Cave Creek.

Texas Ebony = A+ for entire job (front yard). Ended up with a couple of broken ornaments (for scaring birds away) but other than that their skill and bravery for even climbing inside this super thorny tree was very good. I don’t know a lot about tree pruning and was a little worried about how it looked like a big hole/space in the middle of the tree when they were done. But it has filled nicely since. Chinese Elm (back yard) = B+. This tree was originally pruned by my regular landscapers, not expert arborists like Chip Off Old Block, so it was a little weird looking in the first place: Lop-sided - partially due to my backyard neighbors’ oleander which fights for territory with it; few branches in the center. This outfit couldn’t make branches appear where there weren’t any of course, but it REALLY looked bare in the center when they were done. I’m not sure about this process of clearing off the inside of each branch (closest to the trunk) and leaving a lot of leaves and smaller branches at the end of each large branch. It seemes to me that makes it heavy on the ends. But I figured they knew what they were doing. (Plus, the front yard tree filled in well.) I also figured they did it that way so wind could pass through easier or something. But last week (before the big storm yesterday and today) there was some wind gusts in my neighborhood and a big branch did, in fact, break and fall. I texted my contact with the company, sent pics and my questions about the process (just need to be educated I guess), but haven’t had a response. We also had a lemon tree taken out due to disease. Originally they said it would be removed, roots, ball and all. They worked two different days on it but could not get the root ball out. I have to say, this crew did not clean up on this project as well as the others on the other projects. They were recommended by my landscape contractor and overall, I was satisfied. I’d use them again and would recommend them.

This was the second time I've used Chip Off the Old Block to trim up my front yard tree. The tree was trimmed, and all the cuttings were chipped and the area under the tree was cleaned up.

My trees looked very healthy after being treated by these arborists. Had to get over the "sticker shock" as we didn't budget for this extravagant expense. I reasoned that it was better to "bit the bullet" than replace the trees.

They badly damaged some tiles on my roof by allowing palm fronds to fall onto the roof. They did not bring the damage to our attention, and I only noticed later. Tree trimming was OK.

Queen palms were adequately trimmed. Jacarandas in our front yard were not shaped the way we had wanted. We were most unhappy about the fact that a number of roof tiles were broken, probably by palm fronds being allowed to drop on them, and we were not notified about this. Yard was left in a bit of a mess with broken roof tiles on the ground which we discovered much later.

It went great, punctual,fast & efficient

Wonderful....I will hire them again if and when tree service is required. My next door neighbors hired them after seeing their completed word and of course, my recommendation. I had estimates from at least 5 other companies; their price was the best of all the others. The men who started and completed the work were extremely courteous and industrious.
