"Called on Oct 31 for an estimate, they were able to get someone out the same day. Scheduled service for 11/15/16. Got a call the morning of the 15th asking if I could delay to the 17th due to 2 people calling in sick. So I explained that because of scheduling, I really needed to get it done that day. Garth showed up later that morning to do by himself what is normally a 2 person job, but he did it by himself in spite of a minor glitch when he discovered that the wall where I wanted the outlet had a horizontal piece of frame about 7 ft off the floor, which would prevent placing the outlet any lower. So he explored another spot in the garage and found no framing problem. I'm not sure exactly how long it took to get the job done, but I think it was only a little over 2 hours and he cleaned up completely before he left. I have used Ponderosa Electric before and will continue to do so. Highly recommended."

"I am very happy with the expansion of my house. The contractor was not only able to understand the idea of what I wanted, but he was successful in translating my idea into a viable drawing and into a wonderful addition. The end result has not only pleased me, but it did surpass my original expectations. The work was done within budget, within the original time-frame allotted to it, with professionalism and an amazing sense of responsibility. The end-result is a perfect combination of combining engineering and architectural functionality, aesthetic design, and harmonization with the rest of the construction. In sum, I am very pleased!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

New builds, remodels, and additions often necessitate professional framing expertise.

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.
