"DnA Pajinting did a great job. This job entailed restoration of wood beems that were sun damaged. This restoration required sanding, scraping, power washing, and filling cracks. The placement of the beems, 10 to 12 feet above the patio, presented a further difficulty. The DnA teem went above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely use them again for any of our painting needs. Thanks Rod"

"We had a small touch-up painting job on the exterior of the house where new wood had been installed and some stucco needed repainting, Wildcat Painting came out quickly and gave us a very reasonable quote. After accepting the quote, they arrived promptly and did an excellent job."

Customers say: Quick response

"Edd and his team did a fantastic job repairing our stucco and painting the whole house, the back walls and fence. They arrived on time and finished as promised. They even repaired and painted a small backyard wall that was not in the contract. We had 4 quotes from different companies and Edd's was the lowest cost. Highly recommend them!!!"

"We just finished an entire exterior stucco painting which also included two side walls, a deck and a gate. The entire experience was outstanding! From the initial consult/quoting, it was clear that this is David's passion, not just his livelihood. He was thorough, detailed, patient, knowledgeable and helpful every step of the way. We had 4 painters working on the house (one was an apprentice) and they were all outstanding painters and genuinely nice people. They spent a large amount of time on the prep work on the stucco surface and that made the job go quickly once the painting started. We had some pretty bad damage on end caps of stucco walls and one wall had sustained a fair amount of damage. The team took their time, did things right and took no shortcuts. We absolutely love the outcome and seriously would not change one thing. Do yourself a favor and call Pro Finish, you'll love the experience and outcome!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

For the longest-lasting exterior paint, consider acrylic or enamel (oil-based) paints. Acrylic paints, including acrylic latex and acrylic enamel, are known for withstanding harsh weather and sun exposure. Enamel-based paints are also one of the most durable options available. While latex paint is common, it typically has a shorter lifespan than acrylic or oil-based options. The paint's finish also affects its durability; a higher gloss finish is generally more durable. For resistance to moisture and cracking, matte and satin finishes can be effective, while a high-gloss acrylic or oil-based paint offers a combination of maximum longevity and durability.

Ipe wood can last up to 75 years with minimal maintenance because its own oils help to preserve it. However, to get the most out of your Ipe wood deck, you should perform some routine maintenance, including regular cleaning, sweeping of leaves and debris, and rinsing spills with a hose. It’s also important to repair any deep scratches as soon as you spot them and reseal the deck annually to protect against scratches and scuffs.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.
