CDC Pool Remodeling Specialists was born in 1990 when Roger and Chris teamed up to solve a problem they saw in the Arizona pool market. We’re different than most pool contractors you’ll see: We use our own interior pool surface, tile and plumbing crews. Many contractors sub this work out. We don’t. Because pool remodeling is different than new pool construction (the main business of most of the pool companies you’ll talk to). Pool remodeling is full of surprises. There are dozens of things we uncover on each job that require experience to recognize and a commitment to quality to do the right thing. I received quotes from 4 companies in our region and the representative Cassie Selle was absolutely knowledgeable and professional in her assessment and the confidence in the quote provided. We had a full resurface done to our pool and after consultation with Cassie we visited their company site and they had displays with the majority of all the choices in material they provide for resurfacing. Then the whole plan started to be executed. The onsite Project Manager kept us informed and comfortable with every step in the process. Everyone in this company is courteous, expert in their knowledge and professional beyond any other company I have spoken with. No gouging or pressure at any time, just make your choices and have them execute. I highly recommend this company to any private pool owners.... Respectfully, Jim"

You can extend your grass’ lifespan by treating it well, including regular mowing, weeding, watering, and preventative pest control. Both aerating and scarifying your lawn can offer serious benefits. Aerating pokes holes in the soil to better allow air, moisture, and nutrients to permeate while scarifying removes the buildup of dead plant matter at the soil’s surface. Most lawns require both of these maintenance items to thrive.

To prepare your lawn for core aeration, water it the day before you aerate. (Alternatively, you can wait until it rains and aerate the following day.) Aerating after watering or a rainy day will make the process easier since you can penetrate moist soil better than dry soil. You should also flag your sprinklers so that you don’t accidentally hit them while aerating. If you have a lot of thatch buildup in your yard, you might need to dethatch your lawn before aerating as well.

The screwdriver test involves trying to push a screwdriver into your lawn. If it goes in easily, you’re likely overwatering and should cut back. If there’s moderate resistance, you have a good watering schedule and soil composition. If there’s a lot of resistance or you can’t get the screwdriver into the soil, you may need to aerate your lawn to reduce compaction and increase your watering schedule.
