".The work was good but took 2 days to complete due to the availability of his assistants.  The process is extremely messy however and suggest you cover everything when the job is being completed.  He was very courteous and through.  Make sure to mention if you are a senior as he gives a discount.  This is a young company and privately owned so Shawn is eager to make you happy.  My house is approximately 1480 sq ft and the other quote I received was for $500.00. That was only for the blown in insulation and  not all the AC duct work repair."

"We've been using Valley Heating and Cooling for three years in two different houses.  We wouldn't dream of using anyone else.  We bought a three year contract which enables us to have our air conditioner checked every year.  If it needs replaced, we will receive a discount on the new unit  and a refund on the balance of our contract.  We have been thrilled with the service person.  He gives us wonderful tips to conserve energy and does a thorough job of servicing our air conditioner unit.

"They had a crew of two people to do the insulation. Their names were Enrique and Ronnie.. The owner, Brad LInzy iis an honest proprietor. He guarantees his products. He is very easy to work with and very accommodating. They arrived on time. They worked straight 5 hours without breaks. They were very professional. They were very clean. iThere were times that I forgot that they were there installing insulation because they were very quiet. They even wrapped with insulation my water heater without additional cost. The cost of our APS bill went down at least 40% I like the product and service very much that I had our rental property insulated too. Our renters were very happy cause now their electric bill went down dramatically plus the house is very comfortable. I also had them install the attic fans at our primary home and rental property. They are so good that I asked if they also install skylight. I did a research on skylight and their skylight is very good and excellent price compare to other vendors. I was only going to have them install a 10 or 11 " skylight for the kitchen but Brad recommended 18 which I am very happy that I listened to him! My kitchen is very bright now. I don't have to turn on the lights during the day. I had the skylight installed 9/2016. I called Brad last summer on an emergency basis because the a/c at our rental property stopped working. I called him at 9:00 in the morning and Brad, the owner and his staff was at the place within an hour repairing the a/c. What a great service!!!"

"I hired Gary from EcoSystems in order to increase my attic insulation from R38 to R49 and I wasn't disappointed. He used all the SRP rebates available in order to reduce the price for me. I contacted a few more companies and Gary was the cheapest by $300-$600 so I hired him. He came promptly at the time set and after a few questions he started the work. After an hour or so the attic was recovered of cellulose. I took a quick look and it looked fantastic. The crew cleaned up after themselves and the entire experience was painless. I would recommend Gary if you are in the Phoenix area. Also he told me that if I had talked to my neighbors and someone else would have had their insulation done the same day, price would have been lower so I'm passing this information along."

"The provider was right on time. He did a visual inspection and pointed out the it was corroded at the bottom. I had already noticed this and had done some preliminary pricing on replacing the water heater. This company provided a comparable price for equipment and installation and the job was completed within an hour or so. We are very pleased with the professionalism, promptness, and completed work. We would use this company again and will recommend to our friends and neighbors and Angie's List members.

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

"While buying a home in Sun City West our inspection reported that attic had blown insulation blocking all the soffit vents. East Valleys crew went to the home and spent hours checking the issue in the attic, in the August heat no less, and let us know that the inspector was mistaken and that the vents were free and clear. They even checked other houses in the vicinity to investigate further. Two other companies who refused to enter the attic ("I know what attics look like") proposed a small number of external OHagin vents instead which wouldn't have solved the issue if it existed. East Valley saved us thousands in unnecessary rework where other firms tried to take advantage. Thank you Mike and your crew!"

"Audubon Remodeling came out to give me an estimate.  Took deliberate time to measure, gauge, and set the proper parameters and options.  Brian who works for them took care of the entire project.  The attic needed to be cleaned from old insulation, remodeled in spots, and fully insulated.   The cleaning and remodeling took a few days, but the folks showed up early in the morning when they said they would, and despite the heat they cleaned out the attic really well.  There were a couple of mishaps of broken drywall (on the ceiling from folks accidentally stepping through the attic) but Brian didn't sweat it one bit.  He quickly brought in an expert in drywall installation and painting who took time and carefully repaired the problem areas back to new status.  Even the paint matched perfectly!!  I was really impressed with this part of the job because although it was unexpected Brian just rolled with it and worked with me to get it fixed, while still concentrating on the number one priority which was remodeling the attic.  When Audubon finished, the attic was spotless, clean, i've never seen it like that.   A friend of mine joked if he could rent the "upstairs" bedroom.  Brian proceeded to install the radiant barrier, as well as lighting the entire attic, and installing new electric fans to keep air circulating.  Then capped it off with R38 insulation.  I cant wait to get my lower electricity bill next month!!  Overall I was very happy with Brian and Audubon's work, and would recommend them to anyone."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Blown-in insulation works, but only for unfinished attics. Also, it isn’t the longest-lasting nor the most effective option. For better options, look into spray foam insulation or natural fiber batts. They typically have a longer lifespan, better heat resistance, and stronger sound-proof abilities. Spray foam insulation costs about $1.25 to $1.50 per square foot, but can go up to more than $4 per square foot. Fiber batt pricing varies depending on the material.

The cost to install a radiant barrier ranges from $700 to $2,800, depending on the size of your roof and the type you choose. Most people pay an average of $1,700 to install a radiant barrier. Foil options, both single- and double-sided, cost between $0.10 and $0.90 per square foot, while spray-on options start at $0.60 and go all the way up to $1 per square foot—which can add up quickly.

The amount and type of insulation your home needs depends on your location, climate, and the specific installation area (attic, walls, or floors). Your local building code will typically determine the minimum required R-value. For specific recommendations, Energy Star suggests the following R-values: homes in the Southern U.S. should have R30 to R60 in attics and R13 to R25 in floors and walls; homes in moderate climates need R38 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls; and homes in northern states require R49 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls.

An insulated garage benefits from roof vents to ensure proper ventilation and prevent moisture buildup. Insulation can trap moisture in the garage, especially during temperature fluctuations, and roof vents play a crucial role in expelling the moisture in the air. Including roof vents promotes air circulation, preventing condensation and enhancing overall air quality.

The primary downside of radiant barriers is their limited effectiveness in cold climates. They are designed to reflect radiant heat, making them less beneficial in cooler conditions where heat retention is more important.

Radiant barriers require proper installation to maximize effectiveness. Incorrect placement can lead to minimal benefits. They also do not provide insulation, meaning they should be used in conjunction with traditional insulation for optimal energy efficiency.
