After clearing the shower drain, Nick (the owner) did an assessment of the drains system to identify situations that may need to be addressed at some future time. No sales pitch - just information. Your shut-off valve is likely located in a basement, utility room, or garage and is connected to your sprinkler system by a water line. Likely, you will be able to observe the water line connection going to your house and trace that to find the shutoff valve. You might also have an access panel that covers a utility box in your yard. If you have one of these, the shutoff valves for your sprinkler system are likely inside.

Only portable washers and dryers function without a full hookup, though in most cases, you will need the proper plumbing, electrical, and ventilation installation. Extenders typically come in kits for easy DIY installation, fit over the existing flange, and bring the drain connection higher.
