This letter will describe our situation with Anderson Windows and the UNACCEPTABLE service we have received from them. In March 2013 a sales representative from Renewal by Anderson Window Replacement came to my home and gave me an estimate on replacing all the windows. The agreement was that we would have all the windows replaced for 18, 682.00 dollars with a monthly payment of 224.00 dollars this was not true.
The date we chose was May 6 th and 7 th it was a Monday and Tuesday. Jennifer customer rep informed us that it would be a two day job and that we’d receive a reminder call just before. Well the call came on May 3 rd and we were informed the first day the contractors would arrive between 8 and 9 am and their names were Mark and Sherry. Monday morning early I wake all excited waiting for the install to start. 8 am passes, 9 am passes and 10 am passes and no contractors are at our door. Come to find out I had received a voicemail from an unknown number so I decided to listen to it, and Lo and behold it was the contractor Sherry leaving the voicemail stating they didn’t know what time the office said they would be out here to start but that they have meetings on Mondays and it would be a couple hours before they would arrive and they were still gathering materials and getting things loaded up, and should be arriving somewhere around 11. Well needless to say they arrived close to Noon instead. So the first day consisted of getting one window out for they left around 4ish I think it was. That very first night I had a problem with the way a screen was fitting into the window the gap on the sides is so huge a bee could even fit through it! That’s worse than our old windows. I brought this to their attention and apparently between all of them talking it’s something that happens all the time, and they were going to try and come up with something to fix it. They never did! Everyone was too busy trying to rush through all the work to get on to the next job. So Mark and Sherry left for the day and said they would be back early in the morning and with someone to help them along. The next day they arrived with a guy named David things seemed to move much quicker this day and they just kept plugging on. Then Mark and Sherry left for lunch and ended up not coming back for a few hours. Well mind you I am not once having heard from the office regarding anything going on, they were all on their phones a bunch and Mark said he had spoken to Jennifer , well why hadn’t anyone from the office called me? The contractors kept saying they had spoken to the office and were told to do this and that well, I being the Client wasn’t informed of any of it from the office. Then after they took like a 3 hour lunch and went and got some flimsy acrylic piece trying to stretch the screen and he should’ve known that it wouldn’t work before he even purchased it. Then everyone was rushing to clean up because they had another job to be at the next morning and informed me that they wouldn’t be here the following morning because of course this had now turned into a 3 day job. That David was getting a new or “his Own” crew and would be back with them to finish the install. When I found this information out, David had already left for the day, how was this decision made in its entirety and not ONE phone call from the office to confirm reiterate nothing about any of this new information. David and a young man named Nick arrived the next morning, and I guess looking around they realized how much work had actually been left undone, and I explained how I felt everyone had rushed out the day before and to my surprise they both went straight to work, realizing a lot of caulking had not been done windows left unsealed, and two actually remained to be removed and the new one’s put in. I will admit they didn’t even take breaks I had to make them at least eat. However I came to the conclusion that in no way shape or form could this house be completed in even a 3 day period, NOT with a 2 man crew the first day and not starting till Noon, 3 man crew the 2 nd day , and a 2 man crew again the following 3 rd day.
There are so many HUGE chips in our brick and walls surrounding the areas, and the amount of damage left behind doesn’t even make the windows look good at all. They were so rushed through they’re not leveled, were improperly shimmed, and filled as well as caulked and the areas surrounding them to seal the windows. I have called repeatedly asking to speak with the Project Manager, General Manager someone! In turn all I got was a different person every single time saying they can take a message and will send an e-mail and “make sure” that it got to the right people and taken care of right away. I never received a call back from John the General Manager no matter how many times I had asked for him I never got to speak with him, nor did I get a private email address for him a cell phone to contact him outside of the office if need be, and believe me he was never in the office always in a meeting etc. etc. I have the names of all who I left messages with as well. Finally I had enough and I called their Financial Manager wanting to try and find a Corporate number to contact.
Nothing happened again - until I told the bank who financed the project I was not going to pay until it was fixed. Finally they sent a crew to fix the windows but this time I was going to have them inspected by a home inspector to make sure they were installed correctly - imagine my surprise when I saw the official report saying the windows are not install correctly. Although we were sometimes not home becausemy husband was under treatment for cancer, we kept in close contact by phone, and meeting him at the house. The entire project was completed in two phases. First, the sidewalk on the south side of the house from the existing gate in an existing block wall, around a 90 degree corner at the rear of the house to connect to a 10' by 12' patio pad adjoining an existing patio at the rear of the house. The color of the new sidewalk and patio was to be a buff color to match the color of the stucco on the side of the house. - After the sidewalk was poured the gate will not open both ways. Since we are handicapped this is an important detail for us (safety). There are many places in the sidewalk and the patio that are gouged or chipped or just too rough, as if the forms were torn out improperly or finish-troweling was not done correctly. Second, the sidewalk on the south side of the house, the pad for the trash cans adjoining an existing pad, and a sidewalk from the existing gate on the south side of the house connecting with the driveway in the front (a short way) had inconsistencies in the level (some areas do not drain water for several days after a rain) and in the color of the cure (some areas still look wet even though they are not). Additionally, the color of the south sidewalk and walkway to the driveway is obviously tinted and does not match the previous work done earlier by the same contractor. Professionalism and attention to detail were grossly lacking. There was concrete splashed all over the existing block wall, the existing iron gate and the mesh screen on the gate, the existing walk and pad, and the driveway. When the sidewalk on the southside of the house was finished I spoke with the contractor about draining issues since the walk created a contained area next to the house. He said he would put in a drainpipe under the sidewalk out to the rear of the yard so the water could run out. Later, after a rain created a flooding situation we called him again about putting in the drain and he said he had never suggested that and could not do it unless we paid him a large sum of money - nearly a thousand dollars. We did not have that detail, about the drainage solution, written into the contract so we had no recourse and he was denying he had ever said what he did We had shown him detailed pictures of the steps we wanted poured in the front of the house. The workers arrived, without him, and were preparing to build forms. When I asked if they knew what they were to do, had they seen the pictures, they said they did not and had not. Their understanding was they were to pour concrete squares around the front of the house to the north gate. I had to show them the pictures, rake back the rock myself, paint outlines of the steps as I wanted them, then show them houw to pour the concrete and trowel out the shape and design of each step.
The contractor returned several times to check on the work and we pointed out the deficiencies to him: wrong colors, uneven levels, rough spots and gouges, gate not opening, concrete splashed and hardened all over the area including existing walls, ironwork, and driveway. He said he would be back himself to correct it all. We attempted to call him several times and he did not answer the phone nor respond to messages we left. The whole thing left a very sour taste in our mouths. The work is shoddy and some serious problems have been created. However, since we did not get an airtight contract, and he is unwilling to fix the things that need to be fixed, we are "stuck." DO NOT hire this contractor unless you have every detail in print, include drawings and codes/colors, specify all clean up work and what will be done and undone to your house/yard. . We had also just adopted a german shepherd and everything was in transition as we were all getting used to each other. I had never had a dog groomed before and had no idea what to expect. The dogs that were in there were all calm and the groomings in progress were going smoothly. There was no tension on the part of dogs or groomers. I was given a price range depending on the amount of work-there was going to be alot-she's got the chow fur-and told what the price included. I was satisfied that I was given a fair price and was pleased that the service included more than just a bath and a brush. I brought her in a week later. We also adopted her from the pound about 8 months ago, and I had no idea how she would respond. She went right in without hesitation and didn't act upset in any way. The service took about 3 hours or so. When I went to pick her up, she was just finishing up. She looked wonderful! There was a mountain of hair-my hat is off to the groomers who have the patience to brush a dog for that long-it had to take at least half an hour. Again, all the dogs in there were calm. A few got excited when they saw someone new walk in, but none of them seemed nervous or distressed in any way. My dog was even softer than usual and just beautiful. She had a pink bandana around her neck and a small pink bow on her head. It was adorable! They clipped her nails, cleaned her ears, bathed, trimmed, and brushed her thoroughly. It's been 6 days and we've just started feeling a little bit of hair come off on our hands when we pet her, and that was only this morning. It's been wonderful not dealing with mounds of dog hair for almost a week. We'll brush her today to try to keep ahead and I plan on taking her back. The groomers were very friendly and just wonderful with the dogs. You can tell that they love what they do. I don't hesitate to recommend them and will take the german shepherd there as well as he is also shedding. My recently deceased elderly Mom had a fellow take out her "garden bathtub" and replace it with a ceramic tiled walk-in shower. After she died and I used the shower I discovered it did not drain. You literally had to mop the water out of the shower. I hired James (who touts 25 years experience). Cutting the floor tiles out without messing up the side wall tiles looked like a hard job to me. But James and his son (helper) did that with no problem, bringing in their shop vac to keep the dust down, and laying a clear plastic over the carpeted bedroom entrance to the bathroom. James corrected the pitch of the shower floor so the water naturally flows to the existing drain. He showed me with his level how the floor was equally pitched from all directions. I wish I'd taken "before" photos. The shower really looked nasty because around the drain the first fellow had chipped the tiles and filled in with grout. James cut 4 tiles in a perfectly circular way to fit around the existing drain hole. Looks wonderful now! The shower drains like a charm, the smaller tiles on the floor look like a shower should look, the cost was certainly reasonable and they worked effeciently and quickly, but I never had the feeling they were doing a "quickie" job. Overall I was not only impressed, but also delighted with the experience. I hope I can find someone like James to do the other jobs that need tending around this house....he only does tile!! And I hope to have him tile the entry way of the front of the house.
Cliff did an excellent job replacing the floor flange of my guest bathroom toilet. The toilet was leaking due to old bolts that had rusted and broke. Cliff immediately diagnosed the problem. He had to chip away some tile that had been laid above the old flange in order to get it out. Although...

We are an excavating company with over 30 years experience. What kind of work do we do? Anything and everything dirt work related. The most common projects would be house pads, site prep, utilities, and road grading. However, we don't just stop there. We do demolition, water distribution, sewer installs, dump truck services and much more. When you call Canyon Edge Excavating LLC you get the owner bidding your project, and more than likely running the tractor. There are no huge overhead inflations with us. Give us a call!

Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
