"Corbin was the first to respond to my call. He was nice and polite. Did the job right away. Kept me informed of everything. Sent receipts. Excepted a check. Did a fabulous job in matching the grout color to my tile and went beyond and redid some bad areas around my sink areas. He cleaned regrouted, sealed. Iâ ll be calling him to do my floor later on. Thanks Corbin and youâ re welcome for the homemade soaps. Enjoy! Would definitely recommend him to others."

"David and crew were very friendly and thorough in work. It’s exactly what I wanted and I’m thrilled with the tile work. The floor from the hallway was already this same tile, and they tied the new bedroom tile in perfectly."

"Brian from Sir Grout was excellent in every way. He was very fast to respond, got the job done on short notice, and did everything he promised. His crew was respectful and worked hard, and the quality of the work was excellent. By the way, if you are thinking of having color-sealing done on your tile, DO IT. It made the whole floor look NEW again. You really don't have an idea of how dingy it has become until you see it after the work is done. Wow. I recommend this company with no hesitation. They are just great to deal with - call them!

"The Specialized Flooring folks were helpful and pleasant to do business with. We were able to get a fair and competitive price from them. The installers arrived with the wrong underlayment but when it was brought to their attention it was quickly changed. The installation went smoothly and we were very pleased with the beauty of the finished product. We did not have any follow up contact from Specialized Flooring since the completion of the installation.

"Mike of 2nd Generation provided an excellent quality of work and service. He beat out the other vendors on price and was super knowledgeable and professional. We chose to do the demo on our own and Mike lowered our quote based on that need. He also gave us an Angie's List discount, which helped even more.
When our original timeline got pushed back because of a leak that required our buying a new tub, Mike and his plumber TA were very flexible in fitting us in when they could. TA picked up some extra drywall work that we needed done (due to the tub removal) for a fair price, and even stopped by on weekends to sand and texturize the drywall.
The tile work is flawless. We used white subway tiles on the shower stall and used the floor tile as accents on the shower bench and niche. Mike worked around a porthole window which made the tiling a little more complex. The floor is nice and even, which can be a challenge with wood grained tile. The plumbing and fixtures work and look great.
Mike threw in some extras like returning the toilet and putting up baseboard, which really made the room complete. He and TA went above and beyond to make us happy customers. They were both very easy to get along with and were good communicators and planners. We highly recommend 2nd Generation to anyone looking for a top-quality tile specialist.

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can remove an undermount sink from granite countertops. However, it’s safest to hire a granite pro to take on this job. Your pro might have to make cuts and grind the granite to remove the sink. Plus, if you’re replacing your sink with a larger one, you’ll need your pro to enlarge the existing sink cutout in your granite.

It is not recommended to put a hot pan directly on a marble countertop. While marble is heat-resistant, it is not completely heat-proof, and extreme or prolonged exposure to high heat can cause discoloration, cracking, or chipping. Pans may also scratch or nick the surface. To protect your countertop and maintain its integrity, always use trivets or hot pads. Note that faux marble finishes do not resist heat and require protection from hot items at all times.

Unsealed granite is more susceptible to staining and other damage. Regularly sealing your granite countertops decreases the chances you’ll need to repair damaged countertops in the future. It also keeps it looking shiny rather than becoming dull over time. You can check whether your granite needs resealing by putting a few drops of water on the counter and waiting 15 minutes to see whether the water permeates the surface.

If the damage is minor, you can repair countertops without replacing them. You can also resurface a laminate countertop rather than replace it when it gets old and dingy. Countertop resurfacing is a relatively easy project, though it can be time-consuming, so you may prefer to hire a pro to do this for you.

You can’t change the color of the stone, but you can update granite countertops without replacing them by painting them. Because granite is a porous material, you’ll want to seal them first before painting them so that the paint doesn’t hurt the surface. This is important because you don’t want to devalue your counters by damaging the original surface; even if you don’t like the color now, you or a new homeowner may want to remove the paint someday and return them to their original color. You can also cover them with
