Customers say: Quick response

"A rating of 5 stars seems insufficient to explain how grateful I am to Brad and his crew their professionalism and craftsmanship during the replacement of my roof. Thanks to their diligent efforts, the entire process was completely worrying free. They were responsive to my requests and answered all of my questions. To paraphrase the tag line from Allstate,"My roof was in good hands""

Customers say: Terrific value

"Very pleased with the construction, the price, and the relationship with the builder. Alan and his team performed as promised and were very pleasant. Construction was performed in some bad winter weather but everything worked out well. Alan is a former Marine. Based on our experience, female customers would feel safe and respected. I highly recommend him. Note that the pictures I submitted feature an incomplete wood patio deck. Another builder is finishing that aspect."

"They treated the lawn as scheduled. No major issues. Later I decided to do it myself. No hard pressure to sell unwanted services unlike others."

"I hope this is right... I clicked the mouse and I think it was on I'm not doing this project... The first one home Advisor had call me, they called almost instantly. Talked good, that was the last I heard from them. Mr. McKenzie called a few minutes later; He was well spoken, let me tell him my problem, and then said he could be here in 2 hours. He came out, walked the yard, as I told him my problems, quoting prices on different items, and same when we got to the back yard. He said he could have a crew there the next day, if I wanted. About 10:00am 7/12, the next day, two very friendly, knowledgeable polite guys showed up. I showed them the exact spots/items that need replacing, adjusting or fixing. They were done in about 3.5 hours and my sprinkler was working as good as or better than it did when I had it installed 15 years ago. Iâ ll keep Mr MKenzie in my phone book.. I think Iâ ll have them close for the winter and open next spring."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Regular HVAC filter changes, deep cleaning, and air quality monitoring help maintain a healthy environment.

Although no heating appliance can be entirely risk-free, a fireplace insert is considered a safer alternative to a traditional open fireplace, thanks to their enclosed design. With a sealed combustion chamber, a fireplace insert effectively reduces the risk of sparks and embers escaping into the room, minimizing the chance of an accidental fire.

Additionally, an insert comes equipped with various safety features, such as tempered glass doors that create a barrier between the flames and the surrounding space. This enhances both safety and energy efficiency by preventing heat loss. As an added bonus, many inserts are designed to meet strict safety standards that ensure proper ventilation and combustion.

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

Yes, a faulty or broken light switch can be a serious fire hazard. Malfunctioning switches, often due to loose connections, exposed wiring, or overheating, can cause sparking or arcing. If you hear a crackling, popping, or hissing sound when you use the switch, it indicates live electricity arcing inside, which is a significant hazard that can ignite nearby flammable materials. If you suspect your light switch is faulty, turn off the power to that circuit at the breaker and contact a qualified electrician to remedy the issue.

There are a few things you can look out for to ensure your chimney is safe to use. Check for the following issues:

  • Cracks or missing pieces in the masonry of the chimney

  • Creosote buildup in the chimney, which is a black, tar-like substance

  • Cracks, stains, or scorch marks in the firebox

  • Water stains in or around the fireplace

  • A broken or stuck damper
