After seeing his work and reasonable pricing the original floor job turned into him painting the whole interior of the house for me, new trim and baseboards, and even building all new shelving and racks in my closet. I could not rate his work or the business man that he is high enough. I would highly recommend him to anybody that is needing any kind of work done. His work speaks for itself, but having somebody doing work on your place that does what he says he is going to do and being there when he says he will be there is a hard thing to find today."

Yes, you can paint over old deck paint, but only if it’s in good condition and still adheres well to the deck. If the paint is flaking, cracking, or peeling, you need to sand it smooth before painting or your new paint will not adhere properly to the surface.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. Applying a topcoat sealer is not required, but it will keep the stain from fading over time. This is particularly important if the stain imparts a color or varnish. If you’re staining exterior wood, you should apply a sealant or finish to prevent weather-related issues down the line. Also, stained wood that lacks a seal won’t look as clean and fresh. A clear topcoat will give it the professional result you want.

Avoid using cleaning products that are abrasive or contain bleach or acidic components on composite decking to avoid discoloration. Early-generation Trex decking isn’t designed to handle pressure washer cleaning—and if you use them on second-generation boards, always use a low setting to avoid the risk of damage that can risk voiding your warranty.

While most stains will be dry to the touch within 12 hours, it can take up to 48 hours to fully cure. That means that while your stain might not be sticky within 12 hours, it’s still not recommended to get it wet or touch it until it’s had a chance to set for at least 24 to 48 hours.
