"We needed a garbage disposal repair and Clint literally responded to our outreach (after 6 p.m.) in 10 minutes. He was here within 30 minutes and did a great job. Turns out, Clint had been here before. For that, he was able to solidify a maddening faucet in our farmhouse sink that previously quickly became loose. We wasted money on two attempts with others. Clint did it right and it’s still as solid as it can be. He’s also quite pleasant and very professional. You’ll be in good hands with Clint!"

"Evan is an excellent plumbing professional, knowledgeable with superb customer service. Had a fairly significant problem that he was able to identify and remedy while also identifying another issue that was likely to become a large problem in the future. He was able to respond to my service request fairly rapidly, and I will absolutely be calling him in the future with any plumbing needs. Highly recommend."

"Our plastic insert broke so we needed it fixed. Ted was amazing! He knew exactly what needed to be done and was $2k less than the competition. Worked quickly even through hard weather conditions. The shower looks amazing now and couldn’t ask for anything better! Highly recommend!!!"

"Hired the right company to come out and replace my kitchen sink faucet. They also repaired damaged shut off valves under neath the sink improving the water pressure at the same time! Work was done and the price was the exact amount quoted for so no surprises. Honest and reliable service in my opinion. Great work!"

"I wish I could give a great review like all the others because they did some of it very well and I liked their process, but the fact is they did such a lousy job on parts of my shower that every time I use it I have to look at it and it makes me so angry they could not make straight lines, cut in a 45 degree corner correctly, make the shower panels line up evenly, or make my trim symmetrical. They also measured the glass wrong so it didn't fit correctly, and the glass door isn't level and out of plumb. The Onyx material they used is great, but wow, their installation of the shower was really lacking. Mark even agreed it wasn't perfect, but didn't offer to fix it. Sad!"

"Craig, with Ben Franklin Plumbing, repaired our tankless water heater with efficiency and professionalism. He took the time to explain each detail of the service and pricing. I would recommend Craig and Ben Franklin Plumbing and will call them for any future plumbing needs."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Most of the time, the answer is yes, but with an enormous asterisk. While an increase in iron deposits isn’t likely to harm you if consumed, that doesn’t mean you should drink any brown water from your faucets. In our book, it’s better to be safe than sorry and opt for bottled until the issue is resolved.

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

Call a dedicated well and pump professional to install your new well pump. In some cases, plumbers may have the experience needed for the installation, but it’s always better to go with a specialized pro. Well and pump contractors have hundreds of hours of experience with all different types of wells and pumps.

Yes, you should leave outside faucets dripping in freezing weather to prevent frozen and burst pipes. While a drip doesn't always prevent freezing, ice is less likely to form and there's less pressure in your pipes, meaning they’re less likely to burst. You can also winterize your outdoor faucets, eliminating the need to run a drip.

Yes, you can fix pipe threads. In fact, the process is the same as cutting new ones. You’ll need to use a pipe threader tool with the proper size die head for the pipe. Turning the threader over the damaged threads will clean up any damaged or worn-out threads in the pipe. If the pipe threads are too damaged, this process may not work, and you’ll need to replace the pipe.
