Four generations of our family have been involved in our storm shelter business. From start to finish—the design, the fabrication, the warranty work, installation and sales. We have installed tornado shelters in the following states: Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Iowa, Illinois, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, South Carolina and Virginia. Additional phones numbers - (405) 880-1351, (580) 336-1351. Additional DBA - Ground Zero Shelters, Co. Additional fax - (580) 336-1356.

"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

"Subcontractors were mostly good, but management of them was lacking. I had to personally supervise them because the on site contractor rarely stayed very long. Told the trim finish crew to leave because they did not know how to install crown molding. Got another crew that knew what they were doing. They never asked for periodic payments during the job (as is typical); presented one huge bill at the end. Holland homes builds nice homes, but I would not recommend them for small jobs like mine because you do not get the best crews and you have to wait for them to fit you into their schedule."

Lifesaver Storm Shelters of North Alabama is a tornado shelter and storm shelter company that has been selling and installing storm shelters and tornado safe rooms for over 7 years out of the Huntsville, Alabama and Tennessee Valley areas. Our tornado shelters and tornado safe rooms meet or exceed FEMA standards and guidelines and are rated to protect against an EF-5 tornado. Our underground storm shelters are made of fiberglass with a 1/4" steel plate in the lid. When the door is shut, the unit is sealed except for the screened air vents, keeping pests and bugs out of the shelter and is designed in such a way to keep the rain out as well while still allowing adequate ventilation, per FEMA guidelines. Our underground storm shelters start at $3500 installed and offer a safe, quality place to go that you won't have to think twice about using when severe weather is approaching. We also offer an above-ground tornado safe room with our All Weather Safe Rooms which are steel units, installed from $3,795. These tornado safe rooms start at 3 foot by 5 foot (3x5) and can be built to as large as 10 foot by 50 foot, which is the community shelter size. These units can also be built to protect against bullets and fire, in addition to theft and tornadoes. The tornado safe room can also be used as a panic room to protect from burglaries as well as used like a safe to store valuables in with it's 3 heavy-duty deadbolt locks (deluxe model). You will not find a higher quality, better priced shelter around anywhere. Call us for the exact prices for the type of install you would like at 256-258-WIND today. Garages questions, answered by experts

If your cement garage floor is sinking and cracking, your first step should be to call a local structural engineer to assess the problem. They can determine if it’s a minor amount of sinking related to normal settlement or if the issue is structural in nature. If you do have structural damage, the engineer or a foundation repair company that you hire will come up with a plan to fix the issue, which often consists of mudjacking for less severe issues or underpinning for more extensive problems.

It's not uncommon for a garage door to last 15 to 30 years. Of course, you shouldn't rule out replacing a visibly damaged or compromised door just because it's on the newer side. If a garage door was recently damaged by a car, replacement may be the best option for getting ahead of the issue before rot and rust kick in. Other telltale signs that it's time to look into replacing your garage door include visible sagging, cracking, rot, and damaged wood.

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.

We recommend hiring a garage door professional to install a garage door opener for you. Garage door openers aren’t terribly complex, but setting them up properly, setting the lift and drop speed, and installing sensors that work correctly can take a few hours for a DIYer. The cost to install a garage door opener is around $400, and it will save you a lot of time and frustration. Garage professionals have the skills and equipment necessary to work with potentially dangerous garage door components, like springs.

We recommend plywood and solid wood. Particleboard and MDF (medium-density fiberboard) are often too weak to hold significant loads, and could sag or deform under pressure. Plywood or solid wood are meant to last, and can handle the weight of several large items. If you want to spend a little more for a moisture-resistant material, you can consider using steel.
