I started framing houses, trim work, decks, painting, hardwood flooring, etc. In 1990 Our company branched out to start our commercial division where we renovated over 100’s of projects over a 12 year period. In 2008, I was looking for an opportunity in the service industry to complement our construction company, so I bought into the Mr. handyman franchise. I choose Mr. Handyman because of the dedication, commitment to customer service & the quality of workmanship that we expect. Mr. Handyman’s technicians are first background checked, licensed, bonded and insured. All our work is guaranteed. The technicians on staff has at least 10 years’ experience in the remodeling & construction field.

"First of all it pained me to use this type service because I knew the service call alone would be a mole$ting in itself. Charged $256 for nothing. He spent an hour and half doing the exact same thing to solve my issue that I tried before calling them. Couldn’t remove the door knob either. So much for “expertise”. That will be $256 dollars”. My fault for not stopping him sooner I guess. I accept paying for the call charge, but the rest is over the top. Already spoke twice with them regarding this ridiculous charge on the phone. They ignored me after saying they would get back with me. I might has well have walked outside and tossed 256 bucks out into the street. Don’t use this business"

"We contracted with FenceMasters for a large (> 300 ft) shadow-box fence for our backyard, in preparation for a new pool. The City of Madison has some new, and quite strict, requirements for pool fences (Picket spacing < 1.75 inches; auto-close latches; height requirements etc). FenceMasters did a great job with the fence construction. They communicated with the city inspector to make sure they understood the requirements. The owner, Clint, came onsite three times to make sure the crew built the fence properly. I was impressed with his professionalism and communications."

It does matter which way a hinge is installed because it’s possible to install a hinge backward. The hinge pin should face the direction in which the door will swing, making the pin visible. Exterior doors that swing outward need a security hinge with an Allen set screw in the center to prevent someone from removing the hinge from the outside and accessing the home or business.

Ideally, your gate would swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it's generally best for the gate to swing inward. There are exceptions, however. For example, if your property is on a slope, your gate may not be able to swing in.

Keep in mind that there may be local building codes that require your gate to swing inward.

Electric gates can be forced open if someone applies enough force to the edge furthest from the mounting bracket. You can reduce this risk by adding an electric lock to your gate opener. However, automatic gate openers generally help deter intruders, especially when paired with outdoor lighting and security cameras. Other home security tips include trimming trees surrounding the area for added visibility and installing motion sensors in your yard.

Generally, the standard 10- to 12-inch-long and 1- to 1.5-inch-diameter gate springs will work. However, if you have an especially wide, thick, or heavy garden gate, you may need to opt for a longer, broader—and pricier—model to ensure secure closure and good longevity. These typically range between 12 and 16 inches long and are over 1.5 inches in diameter.
