"As an out of state homeowner of a rental property in Montgomery, AL, I went into finding someone "blind". Tosh Gray was respectful, considerate and followed up with pictures, text, calls and emails. He actually completed two other small projects while replacing my skylight. He completed the tasks within the time frame he promised. He sent before and after pictures, since I wasn't there. I would highly recommend him for any job!"

"Sheldon was very prompt in responding to my request. He was at my house at the exact time he said heâ d be here. He not only replaced the trim on a door (including painting the trim), but he installed a sash on a window, repaired two kitchen drawers, replaced the seal on the back door and installed a new kitchen faucet. All the work was done with a high degree of professionalism. Sheldon is also very personable and dealt with ethically."

Siding questions, answered by experts

In Montgomery, visible water stains, bubbling paint, or soft patches on siding signal possible moisture intrusion. Warped, cracked, or loose panels often result from storm damage or improper installation. Faded color, chalky residue, or gaps at seams indicate aging or weathering. If you notice drafts, increased energy bills, or pests inside, your siding may no longer provide adequate insulation or protection and could require replacement.

Helpful?

Siding projects in Montgomery usually take 3–5 days for smaller homes, 5–8 days for mid-sized properties, and up to 12 days for large homes. Weather events like summer thunderstorms or hurricane season can extend timelines. If old siding removal or repairs for hidden water damage are needed, expect additional days. Scheduling during the busy spring or fall seasons may also add wait time before work begins.

Helpful?

Before starting a siding project in Montgomery, confirm you have all necessary permits and any required HOA approvals. Arrange for a thorough inspection to check for hidden moisture, pest, or structural issues. Plan your project for cooler months to reduce weather-related delays. Order materials early and store them in a dry area. Carefully research and select experienced local contractors, and set aside extra time for unexpected repairs or weather impacts.

Helpful?

After siding installation in Montgomery, check all caulking and seals within the first month, especially around windows and doors. Inspect for storm damage after heavy rain or wind events. Clean siding surfaces and gutters each spring and fall to prevent buildup and water intrusion. Schedule annual professional inspections to catch early signs of moisture, pest activity, or fastener issues, ensuring your siding remains weather-resistant and secure.

Helpful?

In Montgomery, siding longevity depends on selecting weather-resistant siding materials that can withstand high humidity, intense sun, and frequent storms. Fiber cement and engineered wood are popular for their durability against moisture and wind. Proper installation is crucial—ensure moisture barriers, precise flashing, and corrosion-resistant fasteners are used. Attention to ventilation and drainage details helps prevent mold, rot, and storm damage, extending your siding’s lifespan in AL’s climate.
