The job involved gutting a 20x40 space down to the studs, moving walls, wiring, plumbing, painting, appliance installation, custom cabinet construction and installation, countertops, etc. We now have a laundry room, pantry, bathroom and eat-in kitchen done exactly the way I wanted it. I had a very definitely deadline, since I needed the kitchen completed prior to a big family reunion, and Mark made the deadline with time to spare. We have worked with Mark on several projects since this one, and we've always been completely satisfied."

Apply a sealant to your cabinets to repel water and moisture. This will help prevent further water damage from developing, such as mold and rotting wood. Lacquer, polyurethane, and varnish are commonly used sealants with waterproofing abilities. Brush them onto your cabinets and follow the manufacturer's instructions on drying time, which can take up to several hours.

You don’t necessarily need to seal bathroom cabinets after painting, especially if you’ve used a gloss or semigloss paint. But adding a coat of high-quality sealant can add a layer of protection against bathroom moisture that can cause the wood to swell or warp or allow mold and mildew growth.

Liquid sandpaper is a solvent used to soften existing layers of paint and make them porous enough that you can effectively apply a new coat of paint. You rub the liquid sandpaper on, wait for it to work, and wipe it off—no literal sanding is involved. Liquid sandpaper can save time and is helpful if parts of the cabinet are hard to reach with standard sandpaper. However, like paint stripper, liquid sandpaper creates dangerous fumes and must be used with care indoors. And unlike sanding, it can’t fix any scratches or dings in your cabinets.

If your cabinet doors feel too low or too high, you may have an issue with your hinges as well. Try tightening the screws on your hinges. If that doesn’t work, you can loosen your screws on the hinges, adjust the door slightly up or down and then tighten them again.

Walls in good condition with an even surface should be fine for frameless cabinet installation. Older, uneven, or warped walls could create problems.
