"I own Renew Exterior Lighting in Chattanooga, TN and Birmingham, AL. SB Electric does work for both of our locations and does amazing things. Generally for us, he is running wiring and installing dedicated outlets. But our clients regularly hire him for additional work and I have never had a complaint."

"I reached out to Jackson Electric for a quote to install a ceiling fan in a room with no existing electrical box in the ceiling. Steve and his crew came out to my home that day and gave me a fair and reasonable quote. I received several quotes from a few electricians in the area and Jackson Electric beat them all. They did a fantastic job and were very professional. I highly recommend!"

"Bryan came and gave me a second opinion after another contractor gave me a disheartening estimate of close to $10k to install an outdoor weatherproof NEMA 14-50 outlet for EV supply equipment. Bryan showed me all the ways that the other contractor was trying to push services I did not actually need (just clean out rust in the existing disconnect, not replace it) and gave me a much more reasonable estimate. The work was completed in a single day and I am highly satisfied with it. He even accommodated a last minute request to update the lighting fixtures in our garage."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.

Setting up utilities on a vacant property usually takes at least a few months, or between 6 weeks to 16 weeks. This process requires working with the local planning and zoning department, hiring a building contractor or engineer to design the utility layout, securing permits, laying the lines, and connecting the utilities.

Yes, you should get a quote or an estimate from an electrician. Most electricians offer free estimates or quotes. When getting quotes, do your research and verify each electrician’s license. Get quotes from three different electricians to compare. If the prices or items listed appear different on the quotes, ask the electrician to clarify. Learning as much as you can about the electrical work you want done will help you get the most accurate estimate.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.
