Small jobs welcome

"We've used Scott for several projects over the years, and he's been fantastic every time. He was willing to take on some smaller jobs that many electricians wouldn't bother with, including replacing a floodlight that had been broken for years, installing a new Ring floodlight camera, and fixing an under-cabinet kitchen light. He responded quickly, showed up when he said he would, and got everything working perfectly. He also helped us with a much more complicated project when our new wine refrigerator wouldn't fit because an electrical box had been installed too far forward. It was right before Thanksgiving, and we were worried we'd be stuck without a solution. He was able to reroute wiring through the basement, relocate the box, and get everything finished quickly so we could install the fridge in time for the holiday. He's knowledgeable, reliable, reasonably priced, and does excellent work. It's hard to find contractors who communicate well, respond promptly, and genuinely care ab"

"Be prepared for an upsell or "grossly inflated" estimate on work you never asked to have done. I call this company for an estimate on installing a ceiling fan and received a $14,000 quote (Gold package) to have the whole home re-wired/updated. How did I get this whacky quote from simple ceiling fan installation? I had electrical work performed 2-3 years ago, so I know a complete re-wiring wasn't needed. Perhaps one or two items revisited, but certainly nothing major (i.e. whole-home). Be wise about your home repairs my fellow consumers folks. Just because a repair guy says you need something extra or in addition, doesn't mean it's true. Always get three estimates. I had my ceiling fan installed for $125"

"My daughter's house was losing electrical power room by room. Went to the breaker box and found it hissing and smoking! Of course this was a big red flag for a house fire. I had seen Steve Jackson, Jackson Electric's name recommended numerous times on the Nextdoor app. We called him at 11:00 PM. He left his bed to come! He was very professional and expedient. He said we could have had a house fire at anytime. We are so grateful for his service especially after hours and leaving his bed to service this! His price was extremely reasonable given all that. We are definitely going to be using his company for all our future jobs. We highly recommend Steve Jackson!!!"

"Night Light Electric did a fantastic job of installing several outlets that we needed. They also installed a phone line and a ceiling globe light fixture. One electric outlet didn't work properly, and when I contacted Bryan, he was prompt and came out the next day to repair the issue. Everything works great."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

Having a Level 2 charger can increase your home value, especially as electric vehicles become more popular. Homebuyers who have EVs or are interested in getting one will appreciate the convenience of a ready-to-use charging station. The added value can vary based on location and buyer preferences.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

Charging your EV every night isn’t always necessary. Most EVs have sufficient range to cover daily commutes without needing a nightly charge, particularly if you have a Level 2 charger. Charging once every few days or as needed can prolong the battery’s lifespan.

You can use outdoor electrical outlets to conveniently power landscaping equipment such as electrical lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washers. From a recreational standpoint, outdoor outlets are handy for powering electric grills, mini-fridges, and stereos. They're also helpful when it's time to string Christmas lights on your home and around your property.
