"Rocky Vacuum, LLC was simply outstanding! Rocky, himself, answered my project within 30 minutes, personally called me to arrange appointment, arrived on-time (actually early), then provided quick troubleshooting of our central vacuum system. He then made several recommendations for us to choose from. Ultimately, we decided to replace our entire central vacuum system. Within 50 minutes, he was able to remove our old unit and replace it with a new central system. In addition, he offered many tips and advice to properly maintain our new system. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Rocky and his team! You won’t be disappointed."

"The technician was world class, showed up after normal business hours on a Saturday, diagnosed the problem, ordered the replacement part then returned Tuesday part in hand. Fixed my original problem then diagnosed and repaired an additional problem free of charge because he did not have the part to fix the original problem on his truck felt bad and I had to wait two additional days. That is world class service. Young service tech with the wisdom, knowledge and attitude of a 30 year seasoned technician. I would strongly recommend this man. Five stars, I can not sing his praises any higher."

"Me Travis was very friendly and respectful, he did his job well and fixed everything! HOWEVER, my only concern was that the lady on the phone said it would only be $45 for him to come diagnose our problem and that would be it. However, he went on to just fix everything and we weren’t aware of that. We just thought he was going to tell us what was wrong. We ended up having to pay almost $300."

"Jeremy was terrific. I've dealt with a lot of A/C contractors, and only a few have been so honest, dependable, and diligent in their work. The estimate was a lot less than the others (a total of under $6K for 3 units - a 6.5 ton and two 3-ton systems). Everything was done professionally, with attention to detail. Even the work area outside was swept clean after the job was done."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

A central vacuum system can be a worthwhile investment depending on your needs and budget. While the upfront cost is higher than a traditional vacuum cleaner, it offers significant long-term benefits. These systems can save you time and make cleaning your home easier, as you only need to carry the hose and vacuum head, eliminating the need to lug a heavy unit up and down stairs. They also tend to operate more quietly and can improve indoor air quality. The convenience and performance over many years may make it a valuable addition to your home if you can budget for the initial installation.

If your central vacuum has lost suction, you probably have a clog in the system. You can remove a clog yourself using a portable vacuum cleaner or central vacuum maintenance sheets. Stubborn clogs or damage to the system require a specialized technician to repair.

Regular cleaning, sealing, and inspections help identify problems early and maintain aesthetics.

Maintaining your central vacuum cleaner is crucial to extending its lifespan. Ensuring the filter is cleaned or changed often is vital to ensuring clogs don’t impact your motor. In addition, inspecting motor brushes regularly and lubricating the engine when needed helps keep it in tip-top shape. Finally, cleaning the central vacuum hose of dirt and debris helps keep clogs at bay, especially if you’ve vacuumed something wet or sticky.
