  • Just Pondering
If you want a natural looking water feature, Just Pondering is your answer. My wife and I presented a challenging landscape that was treacherous to garden and Just Pondering turned it into a safe and beautiful tiered garden with an unbelievable water feature that blends into the rest of our landscaping. They added gorgeous rock stairs on both sides of our side garden. Bryan’s installation team did an excellent job laying out the water feature and placing the rocks so they have a realistic natural appearance. Bryan accommodated several additions to the original design always coming up with ideal solutions. I have lost track of the number of neighbors and passer byes that have commented on how awesome our garden is

The project went great! Once the work was started the team showed up promptly each day, and worked until the sun went down in the evening. Here's a list of all the things that Rudy and the team did: Design, Tree and Stump removal, dry river bed excavation and installing 4 tons of rock, planting of trees and shrubs, adding soil and much, building stone walls in the front of the house and raised garden, water feature installation, and low voltage landscape lighting. The team took great care not to damage the lawn when hauling the tons of boulders into the back yard. They hand placed sheets of plywood to drive over, and picked them up as soon as the driving was done. The result was that our lawn looked great when the project was completed, and the total effect is that it looks like this project was part of the landscaping from the start. During the design phase of the project we met with Rudy and the designer Matt to come up with the initial design. During the installation there were changes made as needed, and Rudy and his installation team were great to work with. As an example the guys placing the large boulders, were willing to make changes and move boulders that weighed 500lbs and more when I wanted a couple of them moved to other locations. And when the water feature we had talked about adding didn't seem to be working out, Rudy came up with great suggestions to place a boulder with a hole bored into it at the edge of the river bed as the fountain. The result was a wonderful look where the fountain looks like it is a source of water into the riverbed

We'd initially called John to "pretty" up a fountain that we'd unaffectionately called the "Sing Sing" fountain-nothing more than water coming out of a concrete wall into a basin coated with chipped concrete sealer. Not pretty at all. John came out and listened to our basic idea for the fountain and asked us what our goals were-- not only for the fountain but the yard itself. We have an odd shaped yard comprised of a very narrow backyard with a large side yard we call the forbidden zone (hasn't been touched in the past 20+ years prior to our buying the house in 2013); and on the opposite side of the house, a narrow strip of property abutting our neighbors. We loved the design that John came up with and made the commitment for the work to start this past June. On the designated day, John and his crew (Sam, Carlos, Mike are awesome!!) showed up and the work began! We'd expressed the hope that we could eventually make the yard itself more welcoming and if possible create pockets of areas that would not only create a peaceful -but private retreat. We had an arbored walkway to a fireplace that wasn't much to look at, and with the current plantings in place actually detracted from what should have been focal point in the yard. John's plan was to add additional patio space to incorporate the fountain into an outdoor 'room,' as well as add a bit of softness to the area by installing curved flower beds to bring a bit more softness to the patio. Masonry work was installed on the fountain and to tie in the concrete block wall. Once the rock work was done- we decided to tie in the very plain fireplace with new masonry work. John's design included bringing green space directly behind the fireplace into an area that had never been cultivated. This was then fenced in with a decorative metal fence that John's crew very kindly installed wiring on and buried below the fence to keep our small puppy in the yard. The fountain was completely redone besides the masonry, a highly durable coating was installed in the basin as well as a new pump system. A real perk was the float system utilizing the irrigation system that provided auto fill for the fountain! No more dragging the hoses! On the side of the house closest to our neighbors John designed a beautiful trellis system that not only brought in a wonderful level of privacy but an architectural aspect as well. Topped with copper caps, the trellis is beautiful for the neighbors to see on their side as well. This same style of trellis work was custom created to cover a gas meter and fuse box. In such a narrow yard- made a huge difference! New plantings were done along the side of a driveway and throughout the front yard and back yard which gave our home a boost from the 'builder' look that is quite prevalent through the neighborhood. To add the sparkle, LED lights were added along the front and back of the house, on the arbor, and inlaid in the pavers to highlight the texture of the fireplace. On a plain concrete wall near the fireplace- a beautiful piece of ironwork was installed with flowering vines. The yard is not only beautiful during the day but spectacular at night. Many of the plantings will only look better as they mature. This was a big project and John with his crew did a fantastic job. Just like any other project there were some kinks and changed minds that were addressed and taken care of in a timely manner. We would not hesitate to hire John again, and in fact, will likely have he, and his exceptional team start this spring in our very messy 'forbidden zone.' No doubt that it will look amazing when completed. For now, we will just enjoy the lovely, outdoor, living spaces Gardens of the Carolinas created for us

Things went fine. Steve was here on time, as usual, he does excellent work. They padded the concrete blocs before installing the sub liner. Then the liner was spread and the edges were held with small boulders all around. He then installed the 2 metal urns on each side of the statue of the Virgin Mary and connected them to the inlet pipe. Everybody was very professional and eager to please. Work was finished on time and we are enjoying it

  • Just Pondering
Whether you are interested in creating a new water feature, or having an existing pond maintained, Just Pondering is the company for you! I cannot say enough nice things about the company and the staff. Their knowledge and expertise is beyond compare. They have been maintaining my pond for me for several years now. They introduced me to underwater lighting, which makes such a difference in the look of the pond at nighttime. If I have a question, they are very prompt in returning my calls or e-mails. You really get your money's worth when they make a service call. My pond has never looked better. I always look forward to the spring "cleanup." I would recommend Just Pondering without any hesitation

I hired Just Pondering in the Fall of 2015 to install a water feature alongside our stairs, leading down to our new patio. They created a waterfall that was just what I hoped for. Loved it so much, it was the saddest part about moving to a new home, to have to leave that space behind.
