I contracted LLS for a backyard redesign, as I was not really using the space as envisioned due to several challenges. After a conversation outlining my challenges and goals, I expected that LLS would provide experienced design solutions and incorporate them in a drawing. This was my previous experience with other landscape designers. LLS was initially responsive to my input and listened to what I was trying to achieve. Ultimately, I received a simple draft design that did not address my backyard issues. To make additional changes and incorporate solutions to those issues, I needed to pay for another two hours of design time. Although the original design was not complicated, I agreed since I did not explicitly detail every item and was initially depending on their experience to help me. I eventually received the design about 8 weeks later, but ultimately it was just LLS transcribing my requests into a CAD drawing without much actual "design" work. I didn't really have any need for that service, since I could draw something similar myself for the purposes of HOA approval, and every other contractor I spoke with included design in the cost of their installs. LLS couldn't or wouldn't quote the actual install without me paying for a detailed, scale drawing to use for the quote. To modify the 2D design from a pergola to a screened porch was going to require as much as $2,500 worth of additional design costs. Ultimately, I paid for 6 hours of design time for a simple drawing that an experienced professional should have been able to do in much less time. The cost was significantly more than I paid for a previous design, with significantly fewer details and input from the designer. If you are looking for design work, I would recommend finding a dedicated, experienced designer who doesn't do other work.

"Per our contractual agreement, we agreed to do a 2D AutoCAD design plan for your backyard with the objective to obtain a visual plan of the area and a plan that will enable us to do take-offs for estimating. We assisted you with the design based on your feedback which you later completely changed from a circular design to a linear design. We only charged you two hours when we had to do a new design from scratch. We provided a very low price for design work, and we spent more time on it than what it was billed. Later, you wanted to incorporate other changes to the deck and add a screen porch when you clearly told us you did not have the budget for it now. So, all these additional design changes will have to be worked on and billed for which you refused to pay for. A screen porch requires not just a 2D design. A building requires structural engineering and architectural drawings particularly when you are requesting to be built over an existing structure. That is why the cost was higher. You also demanded a lot of detail which takes time, and you were not willing to pay for it. If you shop around, you will find that most design companies will charge a higher price than what we billed you for and some design companies with 3D renderings as you requested can charge up to 3% of the project cost for the design. In the end, you got more for what you paid and that to me is a good deal. Our design prices are low because we don't make money on the design work it is just a recoverable fee for our designer's time. Most clients desire to work for us because we also do the installation, and we know what features cost so we can keep the design within your budget most of the time. Unlike other designers that will over-design features to find out later, you can't afford it. In any case, we wish you the best of luck with your project. We regret not being able to work with you."

The design and installation went quickly and smoothly for 90% of the project. Minor finishing details took longer to complete, e.g., installing locks on fence, painting fence, fixing broken timer on lighting system, and correcting faucet leak for irrigation system.

We had Luxury Living Scapes install two large patios, 15'x20', and 17'x25', an arbor, grade and fill along the back of our 1969 Tudor Style home and install proper drainage from the gutter downspouts in the Spring of 2018. Rudy and his team listened to what we were wanting to accomplish, including drainage, design, functionality and worked with us with good suggestions and ideas to help the project tie in to our existing house. With a 50 year old house we wanted it to look like it belonged to the house not a "new" addition to an old structure. His team was prompt and fast, doing quality work. In fact had another foundation contractor by the house for some other work and he noted the quality of the workmanship the crew was doing. We had a small miscommunication on some hardware and installation of the drainage portion of the project, but Rudy was a real pro and we we easily solved the discrepancy. This project was one we had been saving for for several years and Luxury Living Scapes were great to work with. They kept the area clean, had to pull up some chain link fencing to get the equipment in the backyard and reinstalled like it was never moved. Rudy's knowledge of the science behind quality installation of pavers is what made him stand out from the the other half dozen patio installers we talked to at a local home show. He took the time to explain what made a good installation, the types of pavers and the reasons behind the cost. We used the patios all summer and the installation has held up well through out the fall and winter. He was not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for, I am not worried that in 2 years the pavers will be coming out, settling or shifting. I can tell this installation will likely last for many many years to come. The best compliment I got was from a relative who visits frequently and had seen our sorry previous patio and dirt spot, he said "It looks just like it was built with the house" exactly what we wanted and Rudy and his crew delivered. I highly recommend Luxury Living Scapes, you will not be disappointed.

Luxury Living installed a new patio, complete with retaining wall and fire pit. This expanded our existing space and made it much more useful. We greatly appreciated the constant communication from Rudy and his team. We will be using them again for future projects.

The project went great! Once the work was started the team showed up promptly each day, and worked until the sun went down in the evening. Here's a list of all the things that Rudy and the team did: Design, Tree and Stump removal, dry river bed excavation and installing 4 tons of rock, planting of trees and shrubs, adding soil and much, building stone walls in the front of the house and raised garden, water feature installation, and low voltage landscape lighting. The team took great care not to damage the lawn when hauling the tons of boulders into the back yard. They hand placed sheets of plywood to drive over, and picked them up as soon as the driving was done. The result was that our lawn looked great when the project was completed, and the total effect is that it looks like this project was part of the landscaping from the start. During the design phase of the project we met with Rudy and the designer Matt to come up with the initial design. During the installation there were changes made as needed, and Rudy and his installation team were great to work with. As an example the guys placing the large boulders, were willing to make changes and move boulders that weighed 500lbs and more when I wanted a couple of them moved to other locations. And when the water feature we had talked about adding didn't seem to be working out, Rudy came up with great suggestions to place a boulder with a hole bored into it at the edge of the river bed as the fountain. The result was a wonderful look where the fountain looks like it is a source of water into the riverbed.

I consider Luxury Living Scapes a great find through Angie's List. Rudy the company President, was hands-on during the design, pricing, and critical early stages of construction. He helped us with material selections, offered some new ideas, and advice. He has a good eye for the design and took the time to understand what we wanted. The extra step of painting the design on the ground so we could visualize it was really helpful. His office staff is timely with information, the field crews were polite hard working guys who always showed up on time. They worked around our schedule, our family felt safe throughout even though there was serious construction going on. They even tolerated our two larger dogs and managed to stay mostly on schedule in spite of a lot of rain. Of course there were a couple of things that didn't do as planned, but Rudy made himself available to work through those and none of that was ever a problem. Looking back, I would have liked to have some pricing summaries quicker, i would have appreciated a little more heads-up on material lead time for a one item, storing materials in our driveway was messy. and during the stone work there was more dust than we expected. Even given those things Rudy and the guys were great to work with. In the end those were minor inconveniences. Given y the weather they had to deal with, I'm surprised there were so few annoyances. All in all they did a nice job. The most amazing thing to us was that no matter when we spoke to Rudy, whether he'd been to the site that day or not, he knew what was happening. That told us that his team communicates well. It is comforting, as a homeowner, to know that the folks doing the work are on the same page. Rudy's command of details really made decision making simple for us. We always felt like they were straight forward and honest in all of our dealings. .

Rudy met at our house and spent an exceptional amount of time designing and explaining the materials and construction process. Of all the people who provided quotes, Rudy understood our vision and created the perfect design. The project started on time and was completed earlier than scheduled, thanks to good weather. Our construction crew was lead by Julio, who was professional and addressed all our question during the 8 days of construction. All of the crew were friendly and took great pride in their work. The job site was kept clean and orderly throughout construction. We had a special request for locating the landscape lighting transformer in our garage and installing downspout drain lines, which was accommodated. After two months of living with and loving our new patio, we would highly recommend Luxury Living Scapes, Rudy, and his crew.

The team worked very hard to complete the project on time. The owner personally visited the project several times to ensure that we were happy with the work that was being performed. The hardscaping was fine but the plants that he planted have not turned out so great. Three shrubs have died. a Japanese maple was planted to deep and has worms on it from stress, and a cherry tree has died already as well. It has been a really slow process all together and I feel like he is too busy. Over all I wasn't satisfied.

We were very pleased with the results of the project and we would hire them again. We had 3 goals: Channel the water away from our back yard, install pavers inclusive of a fire pit and pathway from the drive, and incorporate low maintenance plants and trees that complimented our partially wooded lot. We couldn't be happier with the results. The individuals we worked with guided us through the process and helped up make decisions that were both beautiful and sensible. The transformation was amazing; the vision given by Jeremy [Project Manager] came through as described - and more. he was always accessible during the process and the crew on site were very friendly and proficient as they moved forward. Clean up - very important was a non issue as they were completely on top as the project came to conclusion. I could not be happier with Rudy and his team. Jeremy Bausch developed and supervised my landscape and patio plan. He was so very patient when I kept expanding the size. Jeremy was a wonderful partner as he listened to what I wanted and provided ideas that would work.

The mulch was delivered in the afternoon and Rudy's guys (two of them) showed up later in the afternoon and installed 10 cubic yards of mulch (decent amount). They did a great job and had everything perfect when they left.
We had Rudy install our patio and pergola including landscaping last May, so we were familiar with his crew and how great
they are to work with. This year, I called Rudy up to do our mulch again as they did a great job last time. This is the busy time of the year for Rudy so it took a bit to get the quote (although I told him no rush), but then they got the job done quickly.

Our home had a plain, sloping backyard that was not very inviting at all. After seeing the work that Luxury Living Scapes had performed at a neighbors home we decided to contact them to discuss options for our backyard. After giving them our vision for the space, they took measurements and together we came up with a design that worked for us. Contacted Luxury Living Scapes on Monday, they scheduled an 8AM appointment to review the work needed. At 8AM Rudy showed up and we talked through the work needed. On Friday he provided an estimate. On Saturday he asked if his crew could come out an do the work.

stay in my budget. His design ideas and personal attention completely exceeded my expectations. The cost was clearly laid out up front and the costs associated with any changes that I made during the process were clearly communicated. No hidden costs and
extremely reasonable. Our project was completed timely, and all employees were professional and hardworking. We have thoroughly enjoyed our new outdoor living space and wished we had done it sooner.

It was a waste of my time and money. I paid the $49 and was put on their schedule for the consultation. I took the morning off work to meet with them. And of course, they showed up over an hour late. I got some excuse about how he had to stop and buy a phone charger in order to use his GPS to find my house.
We completed the consultation and I was supposed to get a design within 3 days. Of course, I got nothing. I kept emailing them and they kept replying with the fact that I would get something that week. This exchange went on for weeks until I gave up. I asked Angie's List for my money back and they said it was over 30 days, so no luck. Best they could do was offer me a credit towards something else.
I was supposed to get my design done in August. I got an email in November with a quote and more excuses as to why it took so long. I politely turned them down and asked for my money back. The last communication from them quoted the 30-day money back policy. They also claim that Angie's List got the $49 and they got nothing.
$49 isn't a lot of money, but the principle of the matter is what upsets me the most. People should do what they say they will do, in the timeframe that they said they would do it in. If that isn't possible, they should return the money.
I still have all the emails, so if anyone wants anymore detail, I'm more than willing to forward the whole string of communications.

Rudy and the team did a great job. We were amazed how fast they worked. Everything took about 3 1/2 days. I'm very detail oriented so there were a couple of follow-up issues which they took care of later. Rudy is very busy but usually responds within a few days. Sometimes you have to call or e-mail him twice to get a response but that is still better than probably getting no response with some contractors. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and have told my neighbors about them.
